Job Description: About the Role: We're seeking a skilled PowerBI + Data Engineer to join our team. This role combines expertise in data visualization using PowerBI with robust data engineering skills, particularly in cloud environments (AWS and/or Azure).

Key Responsibilities Data Engineering

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using AWS/Azure services (e.g., AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory)

  • Implement and optimize ETL/ELT processes for large-scale data integration

  • Develop and maintain data lakes and data warehouses on cloud platforms

  • Create and manage real-time data streaming solutions using technologies like Apache Kafka or AWS Kinesis

  • Implement data governance policies and ensure data quality across all systems

  • Optimize database performance and query efficiency

  • Develop and maintain data documentation, including data dictionaries and data lineage

Business Intelligence

  • Create and optimize complex PowerBI reports, dashboards, and visualizations

  • Develop advanced DAX measures and calculated columns for in-depth analysis

  • Design and implement star schema and snowflake schema data models

  • Create and maintain semantic models (formerly known as datasets) in PowerBI

  • Implement row-level security and manage access controls in PowerBI

  • Develop custom visuals and themes to enhance report aesthetics and usability

  • Automate report refresh and distribution processes

  • Conduct requirements-gathering sessions with stakeholders to understand BI needs

  • Provide training and support to end-users on PowerBI tools and features

General

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data from various sources

  • Implement best practices for version control and CI/CD for BI solutions

  • Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in data engineering and BI

  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues promptly

  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of team standards

Required Skills

  • Strong experience with PowerBI, including DAX, Power Query, and PowerBI Service

  • Proficiency in data engineering concepts and practices

  • Hands-on experience with AWS or Azure cloud services (e.g., Redshift, S3, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse)

  • Solid understanding of SQL and experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop)

  • Programming skills in Python or R

  • Knowledge of data warehouse design and dimensional modeling

  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field

  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering or business intelligence roles

  • Certifications in PowerBI, AWS, or Azure

  • Experience with data modeling tools (e.g., Erwin, ER/Studio)

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies

  • Knowledge of machine learning concepts and their application in BI
