Indev is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join one of our federal projects supporting DHS Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The ideal candidate will enhance our client s data capabilities by leveraging data visualization, advanced data analytics, and database management technologies to improve operational efficiency, improve customer service, and enhance data management processes. The Senior Data Engineer will take a senior role in the development and implementation of these data-driven visualization solutions.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

  • Database Development and Management:
    • Design, develop, and maintain scalable database architectures to support business needs.
    • Optimize database performance and troubleshoot complex issues involving data storage, retrieval, and manipulation.
    • Assist in troubleshooting issues.
  • Data Visualization and Reporting (e.g., Jasper, Tableau):
    • Create and manage data visualization reports and dashboards using tools like Jasper Reports and other visualization platforms.
    • Translate complex data sets into easily understandable visual reports for stakeholders across various departments.
  • ETL Processes:
    • Develop and manage ETL pipelines to ensure efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading processes. (Python, R, SQL, Postgres, Airflow)
    • Implement automation of data integration tasks for real-time and batch processing.
  • Data Analytics and Business Intelligence:
    • Partner with data analysts to interpret data patterns and trends that can drive key business decisions.
    • Provide guidance on data modeling and analytics to support AI/ML and advanced data projects (e.g., Python, R, SQL)
  • Consulting and Collaboration:
    • Work closely with internal and external clients, including government agencies, to provide data-driven solutions that align with business objectives.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for ETL, reporting, and data visualization projects.
  • Cloud Technology Utilization:
    • Use cloud-native tools (e.g., AWS S3, AWS EC2) to process, store, and manage data.
    • Optimize cloud data storage and retrieval processes to enhance performance and scalability.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor s Degree in Technology, Business, mathematics, computer science, information systems, or other related discipline from an accredited college, university, or academic institution in the United States.
  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, ETL development, and data management.
  • Proficiency in SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or other relational database systems.
  • Strong experience with data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau).
  • Familiarity with cloud-based databases and platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
  • Expertise in ETL processes and data pipeline automation. (Python, Postgres, Airflow)
  • Knowledge of data analytics, data visualization, and data governance principles.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, coupled with high interpersonal skills to build relationships across teams and stakeholders.
  • Existing and active DHS EOD/clearance (ICE preferred).

Additional preferred qualification:

  • Strong knowledge of change management processes and technologies (GitHub)
  • Previous hands-on technical experience, specifically with cloud infrastructure across the three major Cloud Service Providers.
  • Previous Jasper Reports experience is nice to have.
  • Federal IT experience requiring DHS Suitability Clearance is highly preferred.

Clearance: active DHS Pulic Trust with EOD/clearance (ICE preferred)
