About Family Services

BCNC’s Family Services department was developed in 2007 to support parents, youth, and children through a holistic approach. Family Services aims to improve the psychosocial well-being of immigrant families in Greater Boston and the South Shore. It achieves this goal by offering linguistically and culturally appropriate short-term mental health counseling, case management, and educational programs, which reduces cultural stigma related to behavioral and mental health and increases knowledge of and access to available resources and supports.

About The Position

The Community Engagement Coordinator will play a critical role in supporting BCNC’s community engagement and capacity-building initiatives, with a focus on enhancing the health and well-being of immigrant families. This position will be responsible for coordinating outreach efforts, providing culturally and linguistically appropriate training, and building relationships with community partners. While the role will include significant involvement in Project RISE 2.0, which aims to prevent and reduce problem gambling, the Coordinator will also support broader community engagement and family services initiatives across multiple BCNC programs. The Community Engagement Coordinator will report directly to the Director of Family Services.

What You Will Do

Community Engagement, Capacity Building, and Program Coordination:

Lead capacity-building initiatives and conduct training for community partners and BCNC employees on problem gambling prevention and related topics. Plan and implement community design strategy workshops with consultants, facilitating engagement sessions for the broader community. Coordinate and execute community, parent, and family engagement activities, such as parent education workshops, support groups, and other events.

Partnership Development and Client Support: Attend monthly meetings with consultants and community partners to align on project goals and capacity-building activities. Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, schools, and stakeholders to foster collaboration and support service delivery. Provide comprehensive, strength-based case management services, including assessments, goal-setting, and referrals for individuals and families.

Develop, evaluate, and monitor service goals, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete. Facilitate family engagement activities, such as support groups, parent workshops, and consultations, to promote well-being and strengthen community connections.

Data Collection, Reporting, and Outreach: Assist with data collection, program evaluation, and reporting to track and assess program impact. Manage outreach materials and social media content (e.g., WeChat) to support program participation. Perform administrative tasks to support community engagement and capacity-building efforts.

What We Look For Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, Nonprofit Management, Community Development, or a related field. A Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., MPH, MSW, Mental Health Counseling) is preferred. Minimum 1-3 years of experience in community outreach, program coordination, or case management. Experience working with immigrant populations, families, or individuals impacted by problem gambling, mental health issues, or other social services. Experience in capacity building and providing training to community-based organizations is a plus. Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and community organizations. Understanding of immigrant family issues and social service systems. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for travel between project sites. Professional working proficiency in Cantonese or Mandarin Chinese a plus. Working Conditions: Must be available to work a flexible schedule and may require local travel during the workday. Work is performed primarily in a standard work environment, including the operation of computer equipment, and physical demands associated with a traditional work setting, e.g., walking, standing, communicating, and other physical functions, as necessary.

Please Note: You must be authorized to work in the United States. BCNC does not provide sponsorship for an employment work visa.
