Data quality engineer is responsible got ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data across data process pipelines. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining data quality frameworks and processes, as well as working closely with data engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to ensure that data is fit for purpose.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.
  • Develop and execute manual and automated test cases to ensure the reliability of data pipelines, ETL processes, and data transformations
  • End to end integration testing across multiple independent systems and interfaces (flat files, ETL APIs etc.)
  • Conduct functional, integration, regression, and performance testing of database systems using industry standard technologies
  • Create and maintain documentation of test plans, test cases and test results.
  • Engage with product owners and development leads to create testing strategies
  • Identify areas of improvement in data quality processes and propose solutions to enhance data accuracy and reliability
  • Collaborate with data engineering and development teams to implement data quality best practices and optimize data workflows
  • Document data quality issues, testing procedures, and resolutions for future reference and knowledge sharing
  • Working closely with data engineers to automate data integration and regression processes.


QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications

  • Deep knowledge of quality assurance terminology, methods, and tools
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills to address sophisticated issues
  • Ability to design and implement data validation and testing strategies
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with database management system
  • Experience with data integration, ETL processes, data pipeline management, and data warehousing
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex data quality issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with data integration and regression automation design, development, and implementation
  • Understanding agile/scrum methodology and experience with tools such as Microsoft Azure DevOps or Broadcom Rally.
  • Experience working in a two week sprint cadence
  • Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and data test using MS Test suite
  • Python and AWS knowledge are plus
  • Banking industry experience and knowledge are plus


Preferred Qualifications:
  • College degree in Computer Science, math or related field of study1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering or related degree and eight years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Knowledge of specific applications, technology platforms, programming languages, systems, or business segments
  • Banking or financial services experience. Knowledge of one or more of the following: Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and software design with strong analytical and debugging skills
  • Professional experience building high-quality apps or services from the ground up and scaling at an enterprise level
  • Experience with Open Source tools and frameworks
  • Experience with cloud technologies, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
  • Strong understanding of SOA and/or Open API methodologies and service architectures
  • Experience using web servers, application containers, caching technologies
  • Solid knowledge of relational database design and development (SQL, stored procedures, data modeling)


The annual base salary for this position is $90 - $130.

IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD LIVE IN THE SAN DIEGO, CA AREA.
