Required Skills

Extensive experience/knowledge in call flow troubleshooting in RAN, EPC, IMS, and VoLTE for services such as 3G, 4G, 5G, OneTalk, VoWiFi, VICE, etc. Extensive experience in protocol analysis to quickly identify granular issues within protocol messages and troubleshoot issues based on response codes seen throughout the network. Protocols you will need to know are TCP/IP, Diameter, SIP, GTP, DNS, RTP, HTTP/S, H.323, MGoogle Cloud Platform, H.248/Megaco, etc. Ability to communicate status, progress, and timelines effectively in a respectful manner. Experience with network tools such as Irisview Session Analyzer, nGeniusOne(nG1) Session Analyzer, and Wireshark. Excellent organization/documentation skills. Strong organizational, development, and problem-solving abilities. Excellent oral and written communication skills which will be displayed in trouble tickets. You will attend weekly formal/non-formal meetings for the Lab Team, create and instruct training sessions when needed, and give professional updates in tickets on a daily basis. Strong team building and interpersonal skills.

Job Description

What you ll be doing...
The engineer will support the client s Maintenace Engineering Lab stakeholders and teams by quickly troubleshooting 4G and 5G voice and data issues. The engineer will need to be skilled at analyzing packet traces to narrow down issues in but is not limited to RF, RAN, EPC, IMS, VoLTE, and more. The engineer will work trouble tickets as they come in on the Jira platform, all work is to be tracked through this system. The engineers will work with the team to drive initiatives to improve Lab uptime and efficiency which includes working with developers on items for them to automate. The engineer will support lab engineers and assist lab customers on a daily basis where you will be attending weekly calls to review issues with the team and daily calls if needed to resolve issues as quickly as possible. Proactively work with the team to ensure documentation is created/updated, holding training sessions to keep overall knowledge in the team to a high level, handle trouble tickets and certain engineering support requests, providing RCA s, and always thinking of ways to improve the stability of the lab network for production testing and validation.

  • Proactively picking up trouble tickets through JIRA and resolving them as fast as possible.
  • Understand system architectures, system operations, end-to-end designs, call flows, and device-system interactions in order to develop troubleshooting guides to be used by Maintenance Engineering and other client teams.
  • Provide outage resolution oversight and act as an escalation/support contact for voice and data call flow issues.
  • Collect, identify, and evaluate data relating to system problems that impact application performance and efficiency.
  • Analyze system failures and develop short- as well as long-term solutions to address each.
  • Responsible for reducing Mean Time To Repair(MTTR).
  • Work with client teams and multiple vendors across many platforms to achieve system stability. In the event that executive leadership needs to be involved Maintenance Engineering management will be brought in as a point of further escalation.
  • Be proficient with troubleshooting tools such as Irisview Session Analyzer, nGeniusOne(nG1) Session Analyzer, and WireShark to analyze packet captures.

The Wireless Maintenance Engineering Lab Team is looking for a self-motivated and forward-thinking technician to support the E2E Lab Network (RF, RAN, EPC, IMS, VoLTE, etc) to quickly analyze protocols and efficiently resolve issues as fast as possible. This individual should be a self-starter with a leadership mindset to proactively seek out and solve potential issues before they impact lab customers. We re looking for an individual that will provide guidance to fellow employees and lab customers on a daily basis ensuring all teams in Maintenance Engineering are well informed and supported quickly in times of need.

You ll need to have:
