Job Description
Candidate will be responsible for assisting on the oversight, health, and successful completion of all OSP Engineering Design projects and programs, including but not limited to, FTTP, MDU, MTU, SMB/Enterprise and BAU work order packages. Previous OSP engineering and Field data collection experience, along with working knowledge of AutoCAD, Smartsheets and OCALC. The ideal candidate will have experience with Engineering or Project Managing turn-key programs.
Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
  • Oversight & review of all OSP Engineering Design packages.
  • Utilize and provide to management meaningful and timely reports using key performance indicators to aid in managing the health and success of the project.
  • Enhance existing processes and introduce economies of repetition in the execution of all scopes.
  • Establishing process to account for end-to-end workflow that identify all turn-key touch points necessary to fulfill contractual obligations specific within a particular customer engagement.
  • Identifying transition criteria and then managing stakeholder touch points, internal and external, from receipt of customer work order through invoice approval, ensuring complete contractual compliance.
  • Removing obstacles and empowering Operational resources to be successful.
  • Constantly managing and monitoring project progress, risk, and the quality of the work delivered, as well as the customer experience.
  • Coordinate project level activities. Included but not limited to critical path monitoring/alignment, procurement, resource loading/forecasting/conflict resolution and critical path risk identification/mitigation.
  • Proactively identify and resolve potential issues before they become problems, keeping the client informed of any potential delays or roadblocks.
  • Lead efforts to gather all project level status to report on program status to all stakeholders.
  • Identify and implement continuous process improvement initiatives to allow Operations to delivery services more efficiently.
  • Client interface for project status and issue resolution.
  • Responsible for reporting on predetermined program level KPI's.
  • Participates in weekly project level status calls with customer, keeping expectations aligned through schedule variance tracking and risk mitigation techniques.
  • Responsible for tracking change impact and delay impact.
  • Defines and monitors critical path and high-risk project key data points for analysis.
  • Forecasting and management of resources to facilitate the scheduled work on time and under budget.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1+ years of OSP engineering experience.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Smartsheets and OCALC
  • Experience with the following fiber technologies, FTTP, MDU, MTU, SMB/Enterprise and BAU.
  • Should have understanding of Design and construction of Outside Plant Copper and Fiber Optic Cable (UG, Aerial, Buried, BIC) and manhole and conduit design.
  • Knowledge of Fiber backbone (F1) and distribution networks (F2).
  • Knowledge of permitting processes (highway, railroad, city, county, etc.)
  • Ability to upload/download and edit documents in Project Management software.
  • Expert level skills in Microsoft Office programs and Adobe Acrobat. Working knowledge of Google Earth/Maps.
  • Highly organized, self-starter, and detail oriented.
  • Possess strong professional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics preferred.
  • Experience in either the engineering, construction, architecture, or telecommunications industries.
  • Knowledge and experience with telecommunications engineering standards, with previous FTTP, MDU, MTU, SMB/Enterprise and BAU design or Project Management experience preferred.
  • Capable of identifying issues in the design that would have a potential to impact network buildout.
  • Able to collect necessary data from the field for determining a design including all necessary OSP features.
  • Knowledgeable in GO 95, GO 128 and/or NESC requirements.
  • Knowledge of FTTP architecture, cable design and terminal placement.
  • Experience with interpreting cable or substructure designs.
  • Knowledge and experience with telecommunications construction techniques
  • Able to identify and suggest all types of construction methods within ROW, identify assumed public ROW, visually identify existing utilities.
  • Basic Knowledge of Make-Ready Construction
  • Able to identify potential cable moves and, guying and anchoring requirements to make room for new cable attachments.
