Job Summary
This position is responsible for developing recombinant protein/antibody research products in the Molecular Cellular Biology group. The research associate will be involved in the early stage of product development for recombinant protein/antibody products. The duties include preparing cell culture media, DNA purification, PCR and molecular cloning, bacterial and mammalian cell cultures, and purifying recombinant proteins/antibodies with several affinity tags, and weekly presentations of results to internal and external groups.

Essential Functions

- Prepare cell culture media for experiments.
- Perform cloning, e.g. seamless cloning, and verify the plasmid sequence.
- Perform PCR and DNA purification for molecular cloning.
- Perform mammalian and bacterial cell cultures.
- Purify recombinant protein/antibodies by affinity tag
- Perform protein SDS-PAGE gel and DNA agarose gel.
- Documentation of experiments and generation of reports in conjunction with other research staff.
- Maintain DNA inventory, laboratory equipment, and manage supplies.
- Assist in troubleshooting of experiments and the development of new laboratory procedures under appropriate supervision.
- Other projects or responsibilities as may be required.
- Bachelors of Science in Biological Sciences
- 1 year of general training in molecular biological laboratory or research environment
- Experience with maintenance of suspension mammalian cell lines culture
- Research & development experience in any industrial R&D environment
- Good analytical, communication, and organization skills
- Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented, organized and work well in small workgroups
- Able to perform basic computer operations such as MS Office and Outlook and other computer-based software such as Snapgene.
