Job Summary

As a Data Engineer at Paycor, you will be responsible for building, managing, and monitoring the analytical data foundation for our leaders and our customers. You will ensure timely, complete, and accurate data in the Paycor Enterprise Data Warehouse with speedy and efficient data pipelines, optimized data models, and best practice approaches for logging, monitoring, and error-handling. The successful candidate will build and maintain database objects and procedures with cloud database tools, create and manage ELT/ETL and reverse ETL data pipelines with modern database integration tools. We are looking for data engineering professionals that have successfully delivered scalable solutions in a modern DevOps managed agile software environment.

Duties and Core Responsibilities

  • Builds and maintains database tables, views, and procedures
  • Builds data ingestion objects and routines from multiple source systems to populate the Paycor data lake*
  • Provides remote administrative support and monitoring of financial reporting systems and data movements to include performance tuning, standard process adherence and user provisioning*
  • Ensures accuracy of data landed at target, with ability to troubleshoot process*
  • Monitors and logs the daily extraction, load, and transformation of data into the Paycor data warehouse*
  • Identifies errors and facilitates error correction while loading data in the data warehouse*
  • Collects and documents requirements for new data sources, database fields, database views for the Paycor Data Warehouse
  • Adheres to standards, naming conventions, and templates for extracting, loading, and transforming data into the Paycor Data Warehouse
  • Ensures consistent alignment of data attributes and KPIs across all data sets in the Paycor Enterprise Data Marts
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s in computer science, computer engineering or related field and 2+ years of experience, Master’s Degree in business, analytics, or computer science preferred
  • At least 2 years of experience in SQL database development or administration (SNOWFLAKE, MS SQL or similar) or NOSQL (MongoDB, Elasticsearch)*
  • Strong SQL programming skills required*
  • Experience with BI report Development preferred
  • Experience working in an agile development team
  • Experience with APIs and data formats such as JSON / AVRO
  • Experience with data integration technologies (Informatica, Talend, IBM Datastage, etc.)
  • Exposure to programming languages, code development concepts and techniques*
  • Additional programming languages is considered helpful for this role
  • Understanding of Change Data Capture (CDC) and data streaming preferred
  • Superior organizational skills, with a disciplined approach to implementation, support, and documentation with an ability to present findings clearly and concisely
  • Strong analytical skills

We also offer competitive compensation determined by each individual's relevant experience, skills, and education. In addition to base pay, 60,000 - 87,000 Paycor Associates are eligible for either a performance-based annual bonus or commission, depending on their position.
