The Cross-Cutting Operations team is focused on collaborating with partners across MITRE to enable cross-cutting solutions and progress. The organization works in the National Security Engineering Center (NSEC) FFRDC as part of the Cross-Cutting Capabilities Division, which is comprised of the Cross-cutting Urgent Innovation Cell (CUIC) and a dozen additional staff members leading NSEC-level priorities.

We are currently seeking a MNS Cross-Cutting Operations Associate to join the MNS Cross-Cutting Capabilities organization to serve in a dynamic, fast-moving role. Interested candidates should possess a desire to work with and help coordinate a diverse team. This position involves collaboration with a supportive Operations team at the CUIC and Cross-Cutting Division levels to support the full needs of the organizations to include personnel, finances, and interaction with other operations components at MITRE.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Work across CUIC, the Cross-Cutting Capabilities Division, MITRE, and external groups to provide operations support that implements division and organizational priorities.
  • Provide administrative and operations support to the Cross-Cutting Urgent Innovation Cell (CUIC) organization that includes 2 Directors, 1 Operations Manager, 100 staff located in Bedford, MA and McLean, VA providing back-up assistance as needed. This position will be a part of a full CUIC operations team.
  • Work in a collaborative team atmosphere closely working with the Cross-Cutting Capabilities Division that includes 10 high level staff in McLean, VA providing administrative support.
  • Manage travel arrangements, to include general travel, security forms, coordination with the visiting location, and alternative arrangements when plans change. Generate reimbursement documents in a timely manner, upon trip completion per MITRE and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Work in a collaborative team atmosphere closely working with the Cross-Cutting Facilitating and managing team communication channels, websites, and tools.
  • Assisting in monitoring pending incomplete projects/meetings and coordination of inputs for action items.
  • Setting-up and maintaining project files and records, including establishing resources/documentation necessary for organizational transparency
  • Coordinate logistics associated with unclassified/classified meetings, to include scheduling meeting rooms, coordinating across multiple calendar demands, coordinating with government stakeholders, and working with MITRE and coordinating security organizations to process visit requests and supporting telephone and VTC connections.
  • Set up and maintain departmental files and records, maintaining security of all highly sensitive, confidential, and classified information.
  • Take Foreign National Training and demonstrate ability to follow diplomatic protocols.
  • Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge of MITRE's administrative support systems, networks, policies, and processes.
  • Maintain security and confidentiality of highly sensitive information.
  • Represent the cross-cutting organization in a professional and gracious manner.
  • Document repeatable processes and support the ongoing maintenance of the CUIC and Cross-Cutting Priority websites.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Associates degree, bachelor's degree, or 5 years of equivalent experience.
  • Ability to be in the office 4-5 days a week and provide occasional off-hour support.
  • Requires high level of poise, initiative, tact, professionalism, and diplomacy in working closely, often under time constraints, with highly confidential information, with a diverse group of directors, staff, and MITRE operations supporting components.
  • Must demonstrate emotional intelligence, grace, and respect when dealing with various stakeholders.
  • Exceptional Microsoft Office Suite skills to include Outlook, OneNote, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams.
  • Familiarity with Zoom and Teams communication tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively apply strong self-organization and time management skills, with considerable emphasis on self-initiation, independent decision making, accuracy and follow through on a broad range of administrative support tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively assess situations and make decisions within broadly defined practices and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and the ability to operate and team with MITRE management, staff and clients are a must.
  • A strong teamwork ethos, maturity, initiative, and dependability. Works effectively and tactfully with colleagues at every level of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative atmosphere within larger administrative community, where vacations are coordinated, and coverage secured as necessary.
  • Must have knowledge of the latest mobile (including iPhone/iPad), desktop, and VTC technologies.
  • This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site.
