Job Title:
Postdoctoral Researcher Plant Molecular Biology and Physiology

Department:
FAES | Horticulture and Crop Science

The successful candidate will conduct experiments to express and characterize genes involved in terpenoid and polyterpenoid polymer synthesis in plant and microbial systems. Specific job duties include: gene synthesis, cloning, and amplification (PCR); RNA extraction, and amplification; plant tissues culture, and microbial growth assays; and metabolic profiling of plant and microbial samples. Other duties include acquisition, organization, and storage of data in Microsoft Office and other, platform-specific software; data analysis and interpretation; writing of weekly work and data summaries; writing of data reports; and generation of data figures. Additionally, the position
requires participation in team-based research, and attendance at weekly project meetings.

Required years of experience: 5 years experience in plant molecular biology and physiology, or equivalent experience.

Degree: Minimum degree required--Master's in Plant Science, Biochemistry, or related discipline;

Additional education desired: Ph.D. in plant science, biochemistry, or related discipline.

Required experience: Successful applicant must have experience in molecular biology and plant transformation. Additionally, the successful candidate will have experience analyzing data, writing scientific reports, and participating in
team-based research. Excellent communication skills are essential to the position.

Desired experience: Experience in metabolomics, specifically GC-MS and LC-MS/MS is desired. Experience in terpenoid synthesis and/or quantification and enzymology is a plus. Experience in chloroplast engineering and SEC
chromatography is desired.
