Grain Millers Canada Corp is currently seeking for a highly motivated Engineering Designer to join our team located in Yorkton, Saskatchewan.

Grain Millers is an international agri-business with interests in whole grain manufacturing, merchandising, Grain, and oilseed milling and other Value-added Manufacturing. We are one of the North America's premier Oat Milling companies that supplies customers both locally and globally. Our plants are located across North America with our Canadian headquarters in Yorkton, Saskatchewan.

Position Summary:

The Engineering Designer will be responsible for assisting in the designing of high-quality, functional systems that meet specifications, food safety requirements, and project timelines. The Engineering Designer will develop and formalize drafted design solutions, both in-house and in partnership with contracted providers. This position will also be responsible for updating and curating design records and drawings. This position will be responsible for troubleshooting IT-related issues.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Develop innovative solutions to engineering problems and challenges
  • Manage and maintain facility drawings and models
  • Procurement and management of outside design/drafting services and holding them accountable to company standards
  • Lead design reviews and influence project direction
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives and process optimization, departmentally and company-wide, as required.
  • Drawing System Management.
  • Assistance across the location with minor IT troubleshooting
Essential Qualifications:
  • Post secondary Education in Mechanical Engineering or Design and Drafting programs.
  • Must have the ability to learn and adapt to various software systems, including company ERP/CMMS systems
  • Must be proficient with:
  • AutoCAD 2D/3D and Revit in their current releases
  • Autodesk Vault
  • MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Word
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication
  • Strong Information Technology skills.
  • Must be a self-motivated, team player with the ability to self-manage priorities and organize the workload to handle multiple priorities and simultaneously meet deadlines.
  • Strong Computer skills.
  • Must be open and flexible to change and take initiative.
  • Must be able to work in an environment which exposes staff to allergens such as gluten and grain dust.
  • Must have the ability and flexibility to travel to other Grain Millers Inc. locations, training or industry events as needed
