We are looking for an experienced Healthcare Compliance Specialist II to support and assist the Compliance department in ensuring that our healthcare operations adhere to all relevant regulations, accreditation standards and federal and state guidelines.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of and foundational knowledge of HIPAA, Federal Healthcare laws, regulations, and guidelines, including but not limited to, HHS, OIG, CMS, TJC and Health plan contractual obligations. The ideal candidate will need to be a self-starter, be autonomous and will be responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and monitoring of our compliance program initiatives.

This role requires excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with various collaborators and stakeholders. The Healthcare Compliance Specialist II will work closely with the Senior Manager of Compliance and the Director of Compliance to identify potential compliance risks and assist in the development of strategies to mitigate them. Additionally, the Healthcare Compliance Specialist II will monitor multiple web based compliance systems, exclusion lists and our contract management system.

What you’ll be doing as a Healthcare Compliance Specialist II:

  • Manage, upload and monitor vendor contracts in the Contract Management System (CMS) including affiliated documentation, BAA’s and NDA’s, highlighting material clauses, configuring termination and renewal reminders within the CMS.
  • Maintain regular communication with applicable stakeholders to ensure awareness of key vendor contract dates and deadlines, while also scheduling and assigning contract renewal and termination reminders to the appropriate parties.
  • Assist with the sanction screening process, monitoring new hires and existing employees, vendors, and contractors against federal and state exclusion lists, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Create, update, and maintain internal compliance policies and procedures, ensuring they reflect the latest legal/regulatory requirements and industry best practices in telemental health
  • Assist in developing compliance training programs to educate employees on relevant healthcare regulations, company policies, and ethical practices
  • Acquire functional knowledge of all areas pertinent to Brightside Health’s operation, including but not limited to, commercial partnerships, marketing strategies, and provider partnerships.
  • Serve as a partner and collaborator to all Brightside Health employees, contractors and members.
  • Stay informed of relevant laws/regulations that may impact Brightside Health’s existing agreements, current or future business operations.
  • Manage Brightside Health’s state-licensing software.
  • Perform regular audits of internal processes, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Identify areas for improvement and collaborate with relevant teams to implement corrective actions.
  • Lead or assist in investigations related to potential compliance violations or unethical practices. Compile detailed reports of findings and recommend corrective actions or resolutions.
  • Support Committee functions and agenda preparations.
  • Support ad hoc compliance projects
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Health, Healthcare, or related field required.
  • 3-5 years experience in Healthcare Compliance including HIPAA, HITECH, Federal False Claims Act, Anti-kickback Statute, Fraud Waste and Abuse laws, and other healthcare compliance related laws, preferred.
  • Understanding of CMS requirements, preferred.
  • Experience working with cross functional teams to meet operational and/or compliance objectives.
  • Experience conducting audits, to include design and implementation.
  • Proficient with Google Drive, documents, sheets, and Slack preferred.
  • Superb organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
