Responsibilities

The Office of Space Weather Observations (SWO) under NESDIS is responsible for advancing space weather observational capabilities to meet NOAA programmatic needs. NOAA's Space Weather Next (SWX) program maintains and extends space weather observations from various vantage points, selected to most efficiently provide comprehensive knowledge of the Sun and the near-Earth space environment needed to protect our technological infrastructure.

The Space Weather Ground Services (SWGS) is responsible for comprehensive ground services for all SWX projects, ensuring successful implementation and operation of observing assets and ensuring the continuity of space weather measurements made by SWFO-L1 and the GOES-R series satellites.

The SWGS Mission Operations Services (MOS) program must provide a full mission satellite command and control solution to support the L1 Series with two new independently launched observatories.

Peraton is seeking to hire a Cloud Environment Systems Engineer to join this new SWGS-MOS program.

**This position is contingent on contract award.**

Responsibilities:

Supports C3S infrastructure enhancements with customized user applications.
Supports NOAA OSPO and SWFO ISSOs to perform A&A activities to maintain ATOs on operational systems.
Consults with management, customers, and external contractors regarding the project schedule, resources, plans, designs, and implementations.
Supports technical design, development, and implementation of system services.
Ensures system performance goals are met and the integrity of design is maintained.
Coordinates the identification, reporting and resolution of system anomalies/discrepancies.
Assists in technical risk/opportunity identification.
Supports the implementation of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall product development.
Participates in system conceptual design and documentation of the design concepts.
Participates in design reviews of components (hardware and software) to ensure applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements through compliance verification and validation.
Qualifications

Active Public Trust clearance
Bachelor's degree with 5-7 years of experience, a Master's degree with 2-5 years of experience or a PhD with 0-2 years of experience. Equivalent experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
Experience in DevOps/DevSecOps system development.
Experience in designing private cloud environments, especially in the area of compute servers.
Experience with Implementing DISA STIGs.
Experience working with the Atlassian tool suite, including Jira, Insight, Confluence, Risk Register, Crucible, etc.
Experience working within a distributed virtual team environment, with proficiency in remote collaboration tools and practices.
Strong interpersonal skills with a willingness to foster strong relationships with coworkers and vendors.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the ability to dynamically tailor communications effectively to different levels of the organization.
Experience leading projects and process improvement activities to completion with successful outcomes and delivery of desired results.

Target Salary Range

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
