Your Most Critical Outcome

As the Head of Engineering-Application Development, you will lead GradGuard's talented team of engineers. You will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of innovative software solutions. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in leading engineering teams, as well as knowledge and experience with PHP, SQL, JavaScript, and AWS.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of engineers giving them guidance, mentorship, and support
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical strategies and roadmaps
  • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of software applications
  • Ensure the team adheres to best practices and coding standards
  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve code quality
  • Manage and allocate resources effectively to meet project deadlines
  • Identify and address technical challenges and bottlenecks in a proactive manner
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering team
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends

You Bring to the Table

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Proven experience in a leadership role, managing and leading engineering teams
  • Strong knowledge and experience in PHP, SQL, JavaScript, and AWS
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience in software development life cycle management
  • Familiarity with Data Intelligence practices and tools is a plus

Physical Demands / Working Conditions

  • Typical work environment for a professional office space with hybrid and remote peers
  • Largely a stationary role with some moving from place to place
  • Constant use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, monitor and other office equipment
  • Some evening and weekend work, depending upon workload
  • Some overnight travel may be required for work, events, and trainings
