Reservoir Engineering Analyst

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Reservoir Engineering Analyst to join our Reservoir team. The Analyst role will be primarily responsible for maintaining and enhancing our analytics tools (chiefly Spotfire), maintaining our reserves database, supporting Business Development efforts, and assisting in updates given to Management and our financial backers. A high level of proficiency in data management, aggregation, manipulation, and analysis is essential for the role.

The Reservoir team comprises all key reservoir functions, including Corporate/Reserves, Business Development, and Asset Development. Thus, the Analyst role will have broad exposure to many parts of the company and business dealings. The role will report to the Vice President of Reservoir and Subsurface.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain Corporate Reserves database and lead semi-annual redeterminations with lenders and reserves auditor. Keep company inventory evergreen and provide well valuations as needed. (Aries experience required; ComboCurve a plus)

• Maintain and enhance Spotfire analysis projects. Includes maintenance and troubleshooting of myriad data connections, optimizing data structure/mapping to enhance performance, building out new basin projects, updating Geology grids, and creating new visuals to support analysis.

• Undertake Data Engineering and Analyses with aim to understand trends and production drivers, and to support company investment decisions. Strong analytics skillset required. (Spotfire experience required. Scripting in SQL, Python, and/or R strongly preferred.)

• Support Business Development (BD) efforts by ingesting and manipulating data for analysis (often in Spotfire), tracking results, performing lookbacks, monitoring VDR updates, and creating presentation slides.

• Update data and visuals in monthly slide deck to financial backer, including board slide updates. (PowerPoint experience preferred.)

• Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, Technology, and Operations to ensure cross-discipline deliverables are being met. Deliverables may include LOE and KPI updates, well forecast sharing with other disciplines, Corporate Finance Model updates, and more.

• Support Reservoir Engineers with all other workflows as needed. May include slide updates, data analysis, well forecasting, economic evaluations, and more.

• Support Geoscience efforts as needed, including ongoing maintenance of formation structure and reservoir quality grid files in Spotfire, evergreening of log control points, and providing relevant production data to Geoscience for reservoir quality map tuning. (Note: Geoscience and Reservoir are under the same umbrella at the company.)

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in data analytics may be considered in lieu of education qualification.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex operational data. A high-level of proficiency in Excel, Spotfire, and Aries is required. Additional experience with ComboCurve, SQL, and PowerBI is preferred.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams. A high-level proficiency in PowerPoint is strongly preferred.

• Self-starter with strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.

• Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at once.

Additional Details:

Applicant to reside in Austin, Texas - the company headquarters. Relocation may be considered. The company operates as a hybrid in-office / remote company. 3+ fixed days are in-office each week. Fully-remote is not an option.
