Senior Structural & Geotechnical Engineer Solar Trackers

POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural and Geotechnical Engineer to join our U.S.-based team. This individual will support our customers and internal teams by providing in-depth technical expertise related to structural and foundation engineering, as well as geotechnical evaluations of solar project sites. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the solar tracker industry and be well-versed in applicable structural analysis tools and design codes.
This role will play a key part in understanding the impact of site-specific geotechnical conditions on the design and performance of our projects, ensuring that FTC Solar delivers robust, cost-effective solutions. You will collaborate with various internal teams such as Sales, Project Engineering, and R&D, as well as interface directly with clients to support the successful development and execution of utility-scale solar projects across the U.S.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead structural and geotechnical evaluations for solar tracker projects, providing technical support throughout the development and construction phases.
Review and analyze geotechnical reports to assess the impact on foundation design and overall project feasibility.
Collaborate with internal engineering teams to create foundation designs that accommodate a variety of site conditions, including challenging terrains.
Perform detailed structural analysis and optimization of solar tracker designs, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Provide technical guidance to customers and internal stakeholders, offering innovative solutions to project challenges.
Participate in value engineering exercises to optimize project costs while maintaining structural integrity and safety.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on project deliverables and timelines.
Engage with customers during technical discussions, presentations, and project reviews to provide engineering insights and solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS
B.S./M.S. in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
10+ years of experience in structural and geotechnical engineering, specifically within the solar industry (solar trackers preferred).
Strong knowledge of relevant engineering software tools (e.g., STAAD, LPile, AutoCAD, or equivalent).
Expertise in U.S. building codes and design standards, including seismic, wind, and foundation design principles.
Proven track record in supporting utility-scale solar projects through all phases of development and execution.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interface with customers and cross-functional teams effectively.
Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCES
Experience in developing foundation solutions for diverse and challenging geotechnical conditions.
Proficiency in automation and programming tools for structural and geotechnical applications is a plus.
Passion for renewable energy and a deep understanding of solar tracker systems
Preference for located in Austin, Texas near FTC Global Headquarters
