PLUMBING DESIGN ENGINEER


SHP (www.shp.com) is looking for an energetic, highly motivated Plumbing Design Engineer interested in developing highly efficient and sustainable design solutions in a cooperative architectural, multi-disciplinary environment. This position offers the opportunity to work on projects of varying scales and complexity and influence SHP's vision of becoming a premier sustainable design firm. With a passion for excellence and a commitment to client satisfaction, you'll contribute to projects that make a difference in Pre-K-12 education, higher education, recreational, civic and commercial facilities.


The principle responsibilities of a Plumbing Design Engineer include:

  • Working with the MEP team to develop design options for our projects and clients especially related to plumbing, fire protection, water distribution, storm drainage, sanitary waste and vent, and natural gas distribution.
  • Size, select, design and schedule plumbing system components including fixtures for new building and remodel construction projects.
  • Fire protection design including pumps, standpipes and specialties.
  • Assisting with field work on facility assessments and audits.
  • Cost estimates for designs.
  • Communicate and collaborate with other team members, including other engineers, architects, and interior designers.
  • Prepare construction and permit drawings and specifications.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering is preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience directly related to designing building systems including plumbing and fire protection.
  • Strong computer skills utilizing Revit and/or BIM is required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
  • Must have the ability to communicate and collaborate with other team members, including engineers, architects, and interior designers.
  • Previous experience with an Architecture & Engineering firm would be beneficial.
  • Strong preference for candidates residing in the Cincinnati metropolitan region.

Compensation:

This is a full-time 40 hours/week position, with a full suite of benefits, including paid vacation; paid holidays; paid sick/mental health days; medical, dental, vision and life insurance; health savings account with company contribution; 401(k) with company contribution; performance bonus; and other ancillary benefits. Competitive salary commensurate with experience can be expected.
