The Estimator for Custom Cabinetry and Millwork is responsible for evaluating project specifications, blueprints, and drawings to provide detailed, accurate cost estimates for custom cabinetry, millwork, and related woodworking projects. This role requires expertise in material costs, labor, and production techniques specific to high-end millwork and cabinetry. The Estimator will collaborate closely with project managers, architects, designers, and clients to ensure all cost estimates meet project expectations and budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review Project Documentation:

    • Interpret and analyze architectural plans, drawings, and project specifications related to custom cabinetry and millwork.

    • Identify scope, requirements, and constraints in alignment with project objectives.

  • Cost Estimating:

    • Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for custom cabinetry and millwork, including materials, labor, shop time, and installation.

    • Source and evaluate material costs, ensuring competitive pricing for wood, hardware, finishes, and specialty items.

    • Develop clear and comprehensive bid proposals based on gathered data and project scope.

  • Collaboration:

    • Work closely with project managers, designers, architects, and clients to clarify project details, resolve discrepancies, and make necessary adjustments to estimates.

    • Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to gather relevant pricing information.

  • Vendor and Supplier Coordination:

    • Maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure accurate material pricing and availability.

    • Evaluate subcontractor quotes for outsourced work, comparing pricing and ensuring quality standards are met.

  • Project Management Support:

    • Assist the project management team during the handoff phase to ensure project estimates align with execution.

    • Provide ongoing support to project teams, updating estimates if project scope changes or additional requests are made.

  • Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain detailed records of all estimates, proposals, and revisions.

    • Provide regular updates to management on the status of bids and estimates.

  • Market Analysis:

    • Stay informed about market trends, material costs, and new technologies within the cabinetry and millwork industry to ensure competitive and up-to-date pricing

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience in cabinetry and millwork.

  • Experience:

    • 3-5 years of experience as an Estimator in custom cabinetry, millwork, or related woodworking industry.

    • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and installation practices specific to high-end cabinetry and millwork.

  • Skills and Abilities:

    • Proficiency in reading architectural plans, blueprints, and technical drawings.

    • Strong math and analytical skills, with the ability to perform accurate take-offs and calculations.

    • Proficiency with estimating software, including Innergy, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).

    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills to work with clients, vendors, and internal teams.

    • Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and adapt to changing project requirements.
