- Meet with State staff to determine the scope of a project;
- Advise State on strategies to reach a particular audience;
- Determine the message the design should portray;
- Create images that identify a product or convey a message;
- Develop graphics for logos and websites;
- Select colors, images, text style, and layout;
- Present the design to State;
- Incorporate changes recommended by the State into the final design;
- Review designs for errors before printing or publishing them;
- Ensure that coding standards are met; optimizing the web architectures for navigability and accessibility;
- Utilize specialized graphic design software to prepare designs;
Expertise and/or relevant experience in the following areas are mandatory: (if applicable)
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience in software development or 2+ years of experience in graphic design
- Experience effectively executing against brand guidelines and maintaining brand standards, including demonstrating considered layout, image composition, typography and color palette
- Experience designing externally facing information and graphics in a visually appealing way
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and animation)
- Available to work from Baton Rouge, LA on a regular basis
Expertise and/or relevant experience in the following areas are desirable but not mandatory:
- Ability to effectively edit and augment written and visual elements of program content
- Experience translating technical concepts into straightforward visual designs
- Experience aligning web development applications with technical programming
- Familiarity with Craft CMS architecture
- Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications
- UX/UI Design competencies
- Application of specialized skills within a government agency environment.
