Description:

Role and Responsibilities:

  • CMDB Strategy and Design:

    • Develop and implement the overall architecture and strategy for the ServiceNow CMDB, ensuring alignment with organizational IT objectives and industry best practices.
    • Design a CMDB data model and governance structure that ensures scalability, accuracy, and completeness of data.
    • Define CI (Configuration Item) classes, relationships, and attributes for accurate modeling of the IT infrastructure.
  • CMDB Implementation and Management:

    • Lead the implementation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of the CMDB.
    • Work with ServiceNow development teams to ensure smooth integration of CMDB with other ServiceNow modules such as Incident, Problem, Change, and Asset Management.
    • Establish processes for data input, maintenance, and validation to ensure CMDB accuracy and consistency.
  • Discovery and Data Integration:

    • Implement ServiceNow Discovery and/or third-party integrations to automatically populate and update the CMDB.
    • Develop and maintain integration workflows for external data sources such as network discovery tools, monitoring systems, and asset databases.
  • Data Quality and Governance:

    • Establish governance policies for CMDB updates and maintain accuracy by defining validation processes and procedures.
    • Regularly audit the CMDB data to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with standards.
    • Work with stakeholders to define KPIs and metrics for measuring CMDB health and data quality.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:

    • Collaborate with IT operations, application owners, and other stakeholders to identify configuration management requirements.
    • Provide training and support to internal teams on using and maintaining the CMDB.
    • Act as the point of contact for any CMDB-related issues and enhancements.
  • Compliance and Reporting:

    • Ensure the CMDB complies with organizational policies and regulatory requirements (such as ITIL).
    • Provide reports and dashboards on the health, accuracy, and completeness of the CMDB data.
  • Continuous Improvement:

    • Continuously improve the CMDB architecture and related processes.
    • Stay up to date with the latest ServiceNow features and capabilities, particularly within the CMDB and ITOM space.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Technical Expertise:

    • Extensive experience working with the ServiceNow platform, specifically with the CMDB module and related applications (e.g., Service Mapping, Discovery, ITOM).
    • Strong understanding of ITIL processes, particularly Configuration Management, Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
    • Proficiency in ServiceNow development, including scripting, workflows, and integrations with third-party systems.
  • Experience:

    • At least 5-7 years of experience in IT Service Management (ITSM) and Configuration Management Database (CMDB) design and implementation.
    • Experience implementing ServiceNow Discovery and/or third-party tools for automated CI population.
  • Analytical Skills:

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to understand complex IT environments and business requirements.
    • Experience with data governance, data quality, and auditing processes.
  • Communication and Collaboration:

    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
    • Ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ServiceNow certifications (e.g., Certified System Administrator, Certified Implementation Specialist - CMDB, Certified Application Developer).
  • ITIL Foundation certification or higher.
  • Experience with Service Mapping and Event Management in ServiceNow.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent work experience will also be considered.
