Our Engineering area is formed by a consolidated team that works nationally and internationally in the basic and detailed design of renewable energy projects. Its mission is to ensure that these designs meet the highest quality standards to maximize the profitability of our client's projects.


We are currently looking for a High Voltage Engineer, to join our fast growing and diverse engineering consulting team in the US. The position will report to the Director of Engineering. This position is client facing and will require some level of travel.

The principal duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Ability to perform conceptual and detailed electrical engineering design of substation and gen-tie projects, including renewable energy interconnections.
  • Analyze and comment on project level documentation, including:
    • Interconnection feasibility studies.
    • Interconnection agreements.
    • Power purchase agreements.
    • EPC agreements.
    • O&M agreements.
  • Conduct and provide comment on electrical studies, such as power flow studies and short circuit analyses, using tools such as ETAP, SKM, or PSSE.
  • Perform reviews and comment on equipment used in substation and gen-tie projects.
  • Support Project Managers in management of consulting, engineering and testing projects as assigned.
  • Evaluate and understand production data provided by clients and assisting with analyzing said data.
  • Continuous evaluation of process improvement for technical due diligence reports produced.
  • Manage internal/external deadlines and expectations as required.
  • Ensure the highest level of quality assurance and quality control of own work.
  • Other tasks as directed.

What do we need?

  • Proven experience in substation and gen-tie projects, either in engineering, construction and/or development. Renewable energy experience is a plus.
  • Experience in high voltage transmission line design and analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to assimilate technical and commercial information and translate that into appropriate opinions or assessments.
  • Strong analytical and technical as well as problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform under high pressure and dynamic work environment managing multiple project deliverables.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team and manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as task prioritization.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite applications and relevant engineering software (e.g., ETAP, SKM, PSSE, AutoCAD).
  • A strong personal commitment to continuous improvement and staying updated on emerging technologies in power systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Master's degree and Professional Engineer (PE) License are a plus.
  • 8-10 years of overall experience in one or more of the following fields:
    • Substation design and engineering, including utility-scale projects.
    • High voltage transmission line design and construction.
    • Power utility system design.
    • Utility Interconnection requirements.
  • Familiarity with NERC, FERC, NEC/NFPA, and NESC codes. Familiarity with IEC code is a plus.
  • Experience with power analysis and electrical design software, such as ETAP, SKM, or PSSE is required.
  • Knowledge of power system protection and control schemes.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems and integration.
  • Experience with grid interconnection requirements and processes.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
  • Some familiarity with government regulatory requirements for power system development, construction, and operation.
  • Experience with renewable energy systems (solar, wind, energy storage) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of power purchase agreements (PPAs) and energy markets is desirable.
