Position Overview (Summary/Objective):

ARKA Group LP, is seeking a Firmware Engineer Intern who is passionate about working closely with customers to solve difficult mission-critical challenges. In this important role, you will be working on circuit board, FPGA, and Microprocessor designs around the ARKA/AMERGINT hardware portfolio.

This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, scope, and implement technical solutions that scale across AMERGINT products and customer sets.
  • Take instruction from other Firmware engineers on tasks and design approach.
  • Communicate and collaborate across the engineering team and product owners.
  • Evaluate and recommend solutions and work with other team members on designs.
  • Help to define and prioritize tasks that you are assigned to work on.
  • Provide review and feedback during FPGA/Firmware designs reviews.
  • Continuously improve, adapt, and grow.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Professional or lab experience with FPGA devices. Compile, route, analyze, and test FPGA designs.
  • Understand logic diagrams and timing diagrams.
  • Experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, etc.
  • Programming languages: C/C++, Python, VHDL, or Verilog.
  • Ability to learn how to create FPGA/Firmware functional block diagrams for design review prior code development.
  • Passionate about fostering good engineering practices and processes.
  • Understanding of testing and troubleshooting principles.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills with an eye for detail.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Create detailed block diagrams, circuit schematics with limited assistance and make component selections.
  • Knowledge of VHDL and/or Verilog to develop complex sub-modules in an FPGA.
  • Knowledge of VHDL and/or Verilog to develop test benches for simulation at a module level.
  • Read/analyze/review PCB schematics and layouts.
  • Familiar with telemetry and satellite communications.

Pay Range: $23.00 - $29.00

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

This position is based out of ARKA's Colorado Springs, CO campus. If you like city life, but also enjoy the great outdoors, Colorado Springs is the place for you. While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to use hands to keyboard, communicate, listen to, and interpret instructions and remain stationary for extended periods of the time.
