Description

Position Purpose:

The Application Developer is responsible for developing, deploying, and maintaining secure, highly available, scalable, fault-tolerant, and performant web, mobile, media streaming, and server applications on cloud-computing platforms. as well as integrating those applications with on-premises and third-party services.

Essential Duties:
  • Develop, deploy, evaluate, test, enhance, and maintain secure, highly available, cost-efficient, fault-tolerant, and scalable web, mobile, media, and applications on AWS.
  • Works with the Software Engineering Team toevaluate project requirements/and makerecommendations for the implementation, deployment, and provisioning of applications.
  • Conduct application and infrastructure project planning.
  • Utilize best practices over the lifecycle of a project.
  • Define and deploy monitoring, metrics, and logging systems on AWS.
  • Analyze data collected from monitoring systems to discern utilization patterns.
  • Implement and manage continuous delivery systems and methodologies on AWS.
  • Implement and automate security controls, governance processes, and compliance validation.
  • Manage and maintain tools to automate operational processes.
  • Monitor system availability and performance.
  • Aggregate and analyze infrastructure, operating system, and application log files.
  • Use metrics to drive the scalability and health of applications and their associated infrastructure.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and implement appropriate and cost-effective remedies.
  • Define backup, disaster recovery, and fail-over strategies.
  • Perform other related tasks as needed.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proficiency in PHP, Node, MySQL, HTML, CSS, Python, and JavaScript for web and server application development.
  • Knowledge in one or more of the following: Swift, Java, C, C++, C# XML, JSON, and XAML for application development.
  • Knowledge in one or more of the following: BrightScript, XML, JSON, Swift, JavaScript, Python, TVML, Java, XAML, and C# for media application development.
  • Understanding of elasticity and scalability concepts, including the trade-offs between vertical and horizontal scaling.
  • Familiarity with WordPress and developing WordPress plugins. Strong knowledge of software development principles, platforms, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) stack architecture.
  • Experience with Angular, React, or Vue.
  • Knowledge of large-scale relational and non-relational database structures.
  • Ability to consume RESTful web services using JSON and XML.
  • Detail-oriented, strong organizational skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-directed with the ability to handle a wide variety of tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and teams
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • This position requires the applicant to be a self-starter, who is self-directed, personable, an excellent communicator, and can work independently and as a member of a team.
  • This individual must be able to take ownership of tasks assigned and work independently within the scope of project assignments.
  • Must be able to effectively operate Windows-based computer and navigate Microsoft Office Suite

Requirements:
  • Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Must sign the Statement of Faith.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent education is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or equivalent desired.
  • Charis Bible College graduate is desired.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience working in a software development team or environment.
  • Must pass all required checks.

Experience:
  • 3+ years of experience as an application developer or equivalent role.
  • AWS Certifications desired.
  • Experience developing web and server apps using PHP, ASP.NET, C#, Node, MySQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, HTML, CSS, Python, and JavaScript.
  • Experience developing mobile apps for iOS, Android, Fire OS, and Windows using Swift, Java, C#, XML, JSON, and XAML desired.
  • Compensation is commensurate with experience.
