Director of Engineering

The Director of Engineering leads the Engineering Team and works extensively with that team to develop and execute key company projects in alignment with the company's growth strategy. This position has at least working knowledge of multiple engineering disciplines, enjoys being hands-on with products, and can coordinate the Engineering Team's involvement with the Procurement, Quality, and Production departments to provide technical expertise and advice.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead multi-disciplinary Engineering Team to collaborate on projects

Estimate engineering labor, production labor, tooling, and material costs in support of new project pursuits

Create 3D models, technical drawings, and bills of materials for assemblies and components

Perform mechanical design/analysis, prototyping, and troubleshooting

Select and source materials and components in support of product design efforts

Design build fixtures and test fixtures

Generate production documentation and train production personnel

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Minimum Requirements

Strong leadership skills

Subject matter expertise in his/her discipline and working knowledge of other disciplines

Thorough knowledge of drawings, 3D models, GD&T, MMC

Proficient in CAD / 3D modeling software (i.e. SolidWorks, PTC Creo, CATIA, etc) and MS Office

General knowledge of materials and alloys in various applications

General knowledge of hand tools and inspection tools

General knowledge of configuration management & revision control

General knowledge of production processes, quality control, variable costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of products

Strong written and oral communication skills

Attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Ability to work independently



Preferred Capabilities

Working knowledge of defense product space and military specifications

Experience working in a manufacturing/production environment

WORK EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION

Minimum B.S. in Mechanical Engineering

Minimum 10 years relevant work experience as an engineer

Minimum 7 years experience with 3D modeling

Salary Description

$140,000-$160,000
