Position Overview

We are looking for a Billing and Accounts Receivable Manager to lead and optimize the billing operations and accounts receivable (AR) functions in a fast-growing tech-enabled service environment. This role will ensure timely, accurate invoicing and will proactively manage collections processes. The Billing and Accounts Receivable Manager will play a key role in optimizing our billing workflows, improving cash flow, and ensuring that proper procedures are in place to scale the billing function as we continue to grow.

The ideal candidate has a background in high volume, system-based invoicing who can both manage daily operations and lead process improvement initiatives to drive efficiency across the billing cycle. You will manage our AR Specialist and work closely with stakeholders across Sales, Service Delivery and Customer Success to resolve issues and ensure a smooth billing experience for our customers. You will also be required to communicate directly with our customers as needed to ensure timely payment of invoices and resolve invoicing issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Billing & Invoicing: Oversee and manage all aspects of billing operations to ensure accurate and timely invoicing of customers.
  • Accounts Receivable: Lead AR activities, including the development of proactive collections strategies, to minimize overdue accounts and optimize cash flow.
  • Process Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in the billing cycle, recommending and implementing scalable processes, automation, and system upgrades where appropriate.
  • Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop the billing team, ensuring clear roles, responsibilities, and expectations.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Finance, Sales, and Customer Success teams to resolve billing discrepancies and address customer inquiries.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Generate reports to monitor billing, collections, and AR metrics, providing insights to executive leadership on key financial trends and performance.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in billing, accounts receivable, or related fields, with at least 2+ years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of billing processes and systems, particularly within ERP systems (NetSuite or similar preferred).
  • Proven experience in driving process improvements and managing automation projects.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and recommend actions.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a collaborative and solution-focused approach.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
  • Experience in SaaS, subscription billing, or service-based invoicing is a plus.
  • Experience in high-growth or private equity-backed companies is a plus.
