Overview:

The Cloud Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing the cloud architecture strategy to support IRS systems, ensuring scalability, security, and cost-efficiency. This role will involve close collaboration with project teams to plan, design, and implement cloud solutions to modernize tax processing applications and other critical systems.

Education and Certifications:

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Cloud certifications (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Architect, or similar) are preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the cloud architecture and implementation strategy for IRS systems, focusing on efficiency and security.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure cloud solutions align with IRS objectives for scalability, performance, and compliance.
  • Implement cloud infrastructure solutions that enhance the performance and scalability of critical IRS systems, such as the Integrated Data Retrieval System (IDRS).
  • Work with development teams to integrate cloud technologies in the application lifecycle and assist with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment processes.
  • Ensure that cloud deployments meet FedRAMP and IRS-specific security requirements and maintain compliance with all regulatory guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot cloud-related issues, and provide support for cloud-based services, ensuring high availability and reliability.
  • Maintain cloud environments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and manage cloud resources efficiently to optimize costs.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Must have IRS active clearance. Other active government clearances will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • 3 years of experience with hands on AWS Core services.
  • DevOps automation, infrastructure as a code (IAAS)
  • Code or API experience with Amazon and deploy through code
  • Design experience in Amazon implementations
  • Deploy EC2 VCP, RDS and Storage
  • In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms and technologies, including virtualization, networking, and security practices.
  • Experience with DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Git, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipeline development.
  • Familiarity with FedRAMP compliance requirements and security best practices for cloud environments.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Experience in migrating and modernizing legacy systems to cloud-based solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
