UnitedHealth Group (UHG) is seeking a People Technology Environment and Release Management Lead to manage Human Capital software environment and release management processes.

This role is a combination of strategy and process set up, hands-on execution to organize this new function within People Technology. This role will own the Release Management and Environment Planning and Management which includes scheduling, planning coordinating, testing, and managing releases for multiple People Technology. Releases include application enhancements and bug fixes, operating system refreshes and upgrades, security improvements, projects and programs.

Description:

  • Perform as a Project Manager and establish Environment and Release Management functions
  • Plans and manages the release process end-to-end, from the planning of release content through actual release deployment to production
  • Reviews submitted change requests for accuracy and completeness and manage change requests through review, approval, scheduling activities and closure activities
  • Adopt creative thinking and demonstrate knowledge of Agile Methodology and iterative functionality improvements
  • In the capacity of Environment and Release Manager, this role will interface and communicate with Test Leads, Project Managers, People Technology team, and People Technology Systems

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Measures and monitors progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and within budget (if applicable), and that they meet or exceed defined measures of success
  • Identifies the risks that can delay release and manage them, so that the scope, schedule and quality of the release is not affected
  • Controls the version migration process as each version moves through the development and testing process
  • Partners with teams to prioritize and scope scheduled releases with completion dates for each phase. Monitors progress of phases by developing and employing metrics and management reporting
  • Facilitates release meetings. Plans and supports test migrations and production deployments.
  • Supports deployments across multiple environments through coordination with internal, technical, and project management teams
  • Ensures completion of operational and technical documentation prior to software release for each application
  • Gathers necessary release notes and documentation prior to releasing to production
  • Builds and maintains a release calendar and environment matrix and work closely with leaders to plan and inform a centralized view of all releases
  • Designs, manages, and maintains environment and release practices, standards, methodologies, and metrics
  • Drives continuous improvement to improve Environment and Release Management processes through trend reporting and metrics
  • Partners with Test Leads on resource strategies, and specialized support as necessary to ensure release commitments are met
  • Conducts meetings with People Technology and People Technology Systems teams to discuss the release scheduled and identify release roadblocks
  • Partners with subject matter advisors within Human Capital, IT and the business to create applicable testing cases / scenarios

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with Human Resources technology and processes
  • Experience building and managing relationships across a large enterprise and matrix relationships
  • Experience in working with Agile Methodologies
  • Working knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle
  • Team management experience
  • Work effort and environment maintenance estimation experience
  • Experienced in demonstrating organization and communication in sequencing and scheduling of technology implementations
  • Metrics and measurements reporting experience
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional work teams toward task completion
  • Solid communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Project Management in a large enterprise
  • Human Capital Management (HCM) implementation experience
  • Knowledge of agile principles and experience managing projects and releases in agile methodologies
  • Knowledge of testing techniques
  • Vendor Management Experience

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with al minimum wage laws as applicable.
