Job Purpose

The Sr Manager, Learning Design and Development oversees the L&D design and development team and supports the strategic development of enterprise and unique BU learning needs to support our imperative of preparing the next generation of talent. They will help advance our learning culture by ensuring learning is valued, expected, and embedded into our business.

The Sr Manager, Learning Design and Development sits within the Center of Excellence (CoE) team and is responsible for the design and development of enterprise-wide L&D solutions and high priority BU specific needs. This may include developing instructor-led offerings (face-to-face and VILT), eLearnings, videos, job aids, curating learning content, building self-paced learnings, etc. These learning solutions may support management development, skill development, onboarding, business acumen, compliance, functional, process/procedural, and systems training.

Job Responsibilities

Design/Development

  • Lead the design and development of a diverse range of learning solutions including eLearnings, videos, instructor-led training, blended learning programs, etc.
  • Utilize best practices in instructional design to create engaging and effective learning experiences.
  • Apply instructional design principles (ex. ADDIE process) and adult learning theories to create engaging and effective learning experiences that meet desired objectives.
  • Design and develop learning content/programs and experiences that are just in time, just enough (micro learnings) and just what employees need.
  • Leverage third party learning content to build solutions.
  • Build blended learning solutions and curate learning content.
  • Ensure learning solutions are aligned to strategic initiatives and our leadership expectations.
  • Test, update, and publish learning content in our Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Pilot learning solutions and make adjustments where necessary prior to deployment.
  • Develop learning content to be consumed in the flow of work.
  • Implement robust evaluation methods to measure the effectiveness of learning solutions and their impact.
  • Analyze data and feedback to identify areas for improvement and make data-driven decisions to enhance L&D solutions.

Learning Governance

  • Manage and build governance for design/development to drive consistency and standardization.
  • Build consistent templates and tools that adhere to company brand guidelines.
  • Create and manage a standard process for content design/development (from end-to-end).
  • Oversee a centralized and shared site to easily manage, store, and update learning assets.

Management

  • Manage, oversee, and update a large portfolio of learning solutions.
  • Manage project oversight for learning design/development initiatives (prioritizes workload, deliverables, and timelines).
  • Manage and coach a team of learning design/development professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality learning solutions.
  • Foster a collaborate and innovative team environment that encourages creativity, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Build a high performing team by providing ongoing coaching and feedback to team members.
  • Prioritize workload of design/development team ensuring resources are aligned to the highest priorities.
  • Manage licenses for design/development team and work towards a common set of tools to build learning content (driving efficiency and managing spend).
  • Create design/development strategy for team that aligns to the overall L&D vision and organizational goals.
  • Manage expenses and budget associated with L&D design/development team to ensure cost-effective learning solutions.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Minimize duplicate learnings and seek opportunities to bring core and common learning content together.
  • Facilitate quarterly reviews of learning content to determine strengths and areas of opportunity for further updates/revisions.
  • Seek alternative/creative solutions when resources aren’t available and work towards simplifying processes.
  • Support L&D communities of practice.

Collaboration

  • Partner with SMEs to understand learning outcomes, sets clear objectives, and measures impact.
  • Collaborate with L&D, HRBPs, and SMEs across the business to align on learning solutions to meet the business needs.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with key stakeholders to consult on learning needs, gather feedback, and make continuous improvements to offerings.
  • Ensure a successful hand-off for instructor-led training (ex. prep and coach facilitators prior to delivery of content).

Learning Modernization

  • Thought leader for driving innovative learning solutions. Continuously seeks opportunities to enhance the L&D function.
  • Build learning content to accommodate the modern learning (ex. test-out options, experiential learning, mobile learning, etc.).
  • Utilize modern learning development tools to build content (ex. AI).
  • Stay abreast of emerging learning methodologies and best practices to enhance the overall learner experience.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Instructional Design and Development, Education, Organizational Development, Human Resources or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in learning and development specifically in design and development, with a strong understanding of adult learning principles, theory, and strategies.
  • Must have prior management experience.
  • Experience in a learning and development function, creating various types of learning solutions (ex. instructor-led, eLearnings, self-paced, blended programs, etc.).
  • Proficiency in L&D platforms (ex. LMS) and working with third party learning libraries.
  • Demonstrated successful experience with learning development tools such as Articulate 360, Camtasia, Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and relationship building skills.
  • Demonstrated success and passion in creating an environment that fosters and recognizes high performance, high engagement, and personal accountability.
  • Some travel may be required.

Compensation may vary based on the job level, your geographic work location, position incentive plan and exemption status.

Base Salary Range

$114,600.00 - $171,800.00
