Joining Engineer, Cybertruck, Body in White

Tesla is looking for self-motivated Joining Engineer for body in white Cybertruck joining Engineering team at GFTX. Successful candidate will bring extensive theoretical and hands-on experience in all facets of various joining and welding technologies and related equipment especially on laser welding and cleaning systems along with in depth knowledge of robotics systems.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the design, selection, enhancement, and maintenance of joining systems, resistance spot welding aluminum and high strength steel. Projection welding, clinching operation. Self-piercing rivets and bolting operation
• Support maintenance team in troubleshooting difficult breakdowns and equipment failures
• Develop maintenance joining training programs and perform the training
• Project management: both internal maintenance projects, and major contractor projects
• Procedures & PMs. Develop & maintain proper documentation of all necessary procedures, periodic joining equipment maintenance tasks, and process control
• Provide support to production on all matters related to joining processes, addressing any issues that arise, and actively participating in the implementation of future model changes and process development
• Provide engineering solution of product modification, efficiency increase, quality problems etc. and actively participating in the implementation of future model changes and process development

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronic Engineering or manufacturing related field, or equivalent experience
• 2+ years' experience with joining technologies such as Resistance welding. SPR, bolting, clinching, laser joining
• Good understanding of robot integration in joining systems
• Experience in 3D cad systems
• Proven track record of data driven workflow to solve complex problems
• Experience in robotics like Kuka or Fanuc, especially Kuka will be huge plus
• Strong hands-on experience in high volume manufacturing
