This position is expected to start around January 2025 and continue through the entire Spring/Winter term (i.e through April 2025) or into Summer 2025 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time (40 hours/week) and on-site, for most internships.

The Vehicle Performance Modeling team is looking for the best and brightest to join our system architecture and modeling effort. Our team works cross-functionally with all powertrain engineering teams to maintain a comprehensive vehicle model, and leverage it for architecture design, setting requirements, and predicting vehicle performance. As designs and requirements evolve, we leverage our model to inform trade-offs and improvements to keep the world's best vehicles industry leading. This role will be closely integrated with the development, implementation, and utilization of component and system models. You will work with performance modeling engineers on a variety of analyses spanning the engineering lifecycle of various products and initiatives.
The team is involved in architecture design, performance modeling, and validation for all of Tesla's vehicle products, with a very exciting near-term roadmap that involves Cybertruck, Semi-truck, Robotaxi, and Roadster.

Responsibilities
  • Create, develop and maintain performance metrics for all aspects of vehicle motion, suitable for use with real vehicle testing and predictive models
  • Develop scripts in MATLAB to analyze low voltage power consumption and their sources
  • Generate front-end python/dash module to lead to an easier vizualisation of key statiscal aggregates of low voltage signals
  • Collect data and analyze to validate the modeling environment

Requirements
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerodynamics Engineering, or equivalent preferably
  • Experience with SolidWorks, Python, Catia, CAD/AutoCAD, Revit, 3DX or other 3D modelling software
  • Experience using MATLAB/Simulink for modeling physical systems
  • Proficiency in numerical computation, differential equations, and linear algebra
  • Passion for cutting edge EV powertrain technologies and building the world's highest performance vehicles
  • First-principle physics understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, power delivery, energy storage and transformation, and thermo-fluids engineering
  • Strong communication skills and preference for working in teams

      $20.00 - $45.00 + benefits
