Job Summary:
The Compliance Specialist will be responsible for monitoring and ensuring that the company complies with legal regulations and internal policies. The role includes reviewing operational processes, developing risk management strategies, and staying up-to-date with regulatory changes to mitigate non-compliance risks. The Compliance Specialist will work closely with various departments to implement policies, conduct audits, and provide compliance training where necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance:
- Monitor and interpret relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines.
- Ensure that the organization complies with all applicable regulatory and legal requirements.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of regulatory filings, reports, and other compliance documents.
Policy Development and Implementation:
- Develop, implement, and review company policies to ensure compliance with external regulations and internal standards.
- Recommend modifications to company policies to enhance compliance.
- Monitor the implementation of new or revised policies across all departments.
Risk Assessment and Management:
- Conduct regular risk assessments to identify areas of non-compliance or potential regulatory breaches.
- Collaborate with department heads to implement corrective actions and risk mitigation strategies.
Internal Audits and Investigations:
- Plan and execute internal audits to ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.
- Investigate non-compliance issues, determine root causes, and work on corrective and preventive actions.
Training and Support:
- Provide compliance training to employees to ensure awareness of compliance policies and regulatory requirements.
- Offer guidance to departments on compliance-related matters.
- Serve as the point of contact for internal queries regarding compliance issues.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of all compliance activities, including audit reports, risk assessments, and corrective actions.
- Generate compliance reports for management and regulatory agencies as required.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay informed about changes in regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Recommend continuous improvements to the compliance framework and internal audit processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in compliance, risk management, or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX, GDPR, HIPAA) and risk management principles.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with compliance management software/tools is a plus.
