Our client is looking to hire a VP of Quality Control. This would be a great opportunity for someone in a Director role that is looking for advancement. Current state - the client is almost all manual testing. They are very aggressively working on a strategy and roadmap to move to automation. Their current VP is retiring at the end of the year so they would like someone to start ASAP so there is overlap. They have not selected a tool because they want this person to be a part of the overall vision and strategy. This role will sit onsite 5 days a week in Grand Rapids.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The VP - Quality Control assists in the administration of the Technical Resources Department, including: resource allocation, software change control and implementation, and quality control testing and validation. This position works closely with the members of the Product Team to analyze reported software problems and assist in coordination and testing. This position also participates in software development planning by providing design assistance and testing. This position will assist in the hiring, training, evaluation, and development of Quality Control staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing all employees in the corresponding business units including but not limited to coaching, mentoring, developing, hiring, firing, disciplining, motivating, performance reviews, training, goal setting, payroll processing, staff budgeting, and other HR administrative tasks.
2. Work with the EVP of Software Development to coordinate, record, document and be actively involved in the implementation of new software, as required by the Software Department Life Cycle (SDLC) as well as the Programming and Development Standards and Guidelines.
3. Participate in the specification and design process for new software development, and perform and/or coordinate all testing of new and enhanced software.
4. Analyze Project Sheets reported by clients and assist EVP of Software Development in ensuring follow-up and completion of project resolutions.
5. Support Documentation/Quality Control efforts as needed, including documenting software changes and testing procedures
6. Maintain a positive contribution as a member of the management team, and complete all tasks assigned by management to meet team objectives.
7. Supervise Manager of Web Application QC and QC Analysts.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
1. High School graduate or equivalent is required.
2. Four-year degree in business-related field or equivalent work experience required.
3. Experience and comfort working with computer software; ability to learn and explore new software independently.
4. Familiarity with credit union operations, regulation and procedures, accounting and balancing functions preferred but not required.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
6. Thoroughness, excellent attention to detail, and good problem-solving skills.
7. Ability to work independently and initiate projects with minimal supervision.
8. Ability to use discretion when dealing with sensitive or confidential data.
Team size - 1- people Future state they may look to promote a Team Lead to manage all the analysts.
