The Opportunity
Gonzalez Companies, LLC is currently seeking an Illinois Licensed Structural Engineer (SE). The position can be remote or in any of our current office locations.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Structural Engineer will perform engineering tasks related to structural, transportation, and site design, from start of projects through final design with minimal guidance from Managing Partners. This role can sit out of any location in the U.S, as long as you present a valid Illinois S.E. license!

Your Primary Responsibilities will include
  • The study and design of highway structures and bridges.
  • Field inspection of highway structures and bridges.
  • Preparation of engineering reports, plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E), engineering calculations, and monitoring work for compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Act as the project engineer or discipline lead for highway projects, as well as mentor junior engineers and technicians.



What you'll need
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Must possess a valid Structural Engineer license (SE) in the state of Illinois.
  • 2+ years of commensurate experience providing structural engineering analysis and design for bridges, retaining walls, and culverts.
  • Knowledgeable in Illinois DOT policies and procedures including the Bridge and Culvert Manual, AASHTO, AISC, ACI, IBC, and ASCE 7 specifications.
  • Experience on projects with counties in the greater Chicago area is a plus.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or MicroStation.
  • Proven record of work that is accurate and thorough.
  • Superior time management skills, a strong work ethic, and a desire to learn.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and remote environment.
  • Experience in structural design for building, county bridge &/or water resources projects are a plus.
  • Ability to develop relationships with clients.
  • Design project scheduling and budget monitoring, as well as scope and fee proposal preparation.
