PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ATR is seeking an experienced -Mechanical Technician to join the Automation Division, working with a team of engineers at the Headquarters in Beltsville, Maryland. The successful candidate will have knowledge of electrical and mechanical assemblies and possess knowledge of electrical and electronic circuits. Other duties include, but not limited to:

  • Responsible for the working condition of automated equipment and the safety of its use including assembly and installation ofcomputer controlled equipment according to provided specifications
  • Setup the use of tools and equipment prior to production for optimum safety levels
  • Intermediate troubleshooting, maintain, and repair automated material handling equipment
  • Work with vendors and other internal groups to resolve maintenance issues, improve equipment reliability and minimize equipment downtime
  • Train operations employees on proper use and basic maintenance of automation machines

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • 6+ Yearsexperience with mechanical equipment
  • Troubleshooting PLC Controls experience
  • Specialized technical training a plus

SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to determine the method and sequence of assembly of the mechanical components
  • Ability to verify dimensions of parts using measuring instruments to ensure that specifications are met
  • Basic proficiency metalworking machines and welding equipment
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Proficient manual dexterity to assemble a wide variety of electro-mechanic equipment using hand tools and specialized equipment
  • Ability to develop and follow mechanical assembly andtest procedures in a timely manner
  • Effective writing skills to document procedures and test results
