Job Description

Join the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics company as a Software Engineer on our Aeronautics Field Sustainment (AFS) team!

Our Automated Weight and Balance System (AWBS) team located at Hill AFB, Utah is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to develop, maintain, test, and support software tools and applications for the US Department of Defense (DOD). The AWBS team supports a wide variety of aircraft such as the F-16, F-15, F-35 and A-10.

The AWBS team develops and maintains a variety of tools used throughout the DOD and aerospace industry (including the Automated Form F and Automated Weight and Balance System) that support the complete lifecycle of aircraft sustainment and flight clearance as well as aircraft mass properties.

Responsibilities include:
Evaluate and employ the latest technologies to keep our tools on the leading edge.
Involvement in all phases of software development is required, e.g., development of software requirements and design documents, project plans, software development and testing, and collaboration with customers.
Additional responsibilities may occasionally include, preparing comprehensive test plans, test sequences and procedures for software applications including subsystems, integrated systems, database integration, web applications, and web services.
Coordination and execution of integrated testing activities with software engineers, management, customers and oversight organizations.
Occasional travel may be required.
Must be able to obtain a Final Secret Security Clearance.

Basic Qualifications

The following Basic Qualifications are skills that a candidate must possess to be considered for this position:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related computer science or engineering field

Minimum 5 years of software development experience

Experience developing software for military aircraft applications

Experience working in an Agile software development team

C# experience (experience must be within the last 5 years)

Proficient in at least one object-oriented language

Thorough understanding of software engineering concepts, development, and design

Understanding of aircraft weight and balance principles


Desired skills

The following Desired Skills are not required but are those skills that would set a candidate apart from the others:

Proficient in Swift, and/or SQL
Experience with aircraft mass properties
Experience using Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS) and Visual Studio
Experience developing iOS and/or Windows applications (WPF)
Experience in cross-platform development

Ability to work remotely

Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, Washington or Washington DC is $105,000 - $201,100. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.

Premium Pay Statement

Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $120,700 - $227,400. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
