Our client is a midsize staffing firm based in the US. They specialize in connecting top talent with leading organizations in the life sciences sector. They focus on delivering staffing solutions across biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and related sectors. They are looking for a driven and experienced Business Development Manager to help us expand our client base along the West Coast region.

Position Summary:

The Life Sciences Business Development Manager will drive sales and revenue growth by identifying new business opportunities, developing client relationships, and expanding our presence in the life sciences industry. This role requires a strategic thinker with an entrepreneurial mindset, a deep understanding of the staffing industry, and a passion for the life sciences sector.

Responsibilities:

  • Client Acquisition & Relationship Building: Identify, pursue, and secure new business in the life sciences sector (biotech, pharma, medical devices). Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Sales & Lead Generation: Use consultative sales strategies to provide tailored staffing solutions (contract, temp-to-hire, direct placement). Develop and manage a pipeline of leads.
  • Market Research & Strategy: Stay informed on industry trends and market conditions to drive business development efforts.
  • Collaboration & Reporting: Work with recruitment teams to meet client needs and maintain accurate records of sales activities.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 3+ years in business development or sales within staffing, ideally in life sciences.
  • Knowledge & Skills: Strong understanding of the life sciences industry and staffing models; proven ability to meet/exceed sales targets; excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in business, life sciences, or a related field is preferred.
  • Location & Travel: Based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco; willing to travel locally for client meetings. Will meet with local team typically one a month, but role is fully remote.
