This is an advanced management position within the Information Technology Department (ITD). Job components include directing the analysis of vendor software or custom solutions, determining corrective measures for hardware and software malfunctions, identifying the most feasible designs for interfaces between hardware and application systems, and establishing and enforcing software utilization standards. Additional responsibilities include conducting feasibility and cost studies for new programs and installations. The position also entails supervisory functions, including the acquisition, training, and development of system administrators and other staff; scheduling and assigning work to ensure optimal utilization of staff members; preparing performance evaluations; addressing work-related issues with employees and initiating actions for performance improvement; holding meetings with staff to explain and discuss new or revised procedures; and approving employee leave; and advanced technical and administrative responsibilities include supervising and managing the work of highly trained technical professionals performing a variety of specialized technical assistance functions and custom Agile software development for the Water & Sewer Department (WASD).

Experience with the following is preferred:

  • Technical support work including innovating, planning, designing, implementing, evaluating, and maintaining the WASD software portfolio, including its .NET applications.
  • Coordinating and providing escalated support to users, while serving as an escalation point to analyze and provide solutions to complex technical tasks.
  • Managing and overseeing multiple technical projects of the WASD mission critical Business Operational systems.
  • Directing the analysis of vendor software, determining corrective measures for hardware and software malfunctions, and determining the most feasible design for interfaces between hardware applications systems.
  • Conducting feasibility and cost studies of new programs and installations. Understand the WASD business processes and the impact of modifications to any of the WASD systems.
  • Defining and implementing best practices and procedures.
  • Managing large projects and supervisory experience.

The candidate will work closely with high-level management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are preferred.
