In this position, you will participate in BAE Systems' nationwide LEAP Internship & Co-op Program, where you will Learn, Engage, Apply, and Progress within the company. The LEAP Program will provide you with the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals on impactful projects, engage in career development opportunities, and network with our business leaders and the other students in the program.

The Opportunity
BAE Systems is seeking a Risk Management Intern for Summer 2025. Join our Program Management Office and become a member of a diverse, enthusiastic, and highly productive team, where each employee has the opportunity to grow their skills and work on rewarding projects by providing risk management support for the maintenance and development of current and future strategic weapon systems within the US Navy's Strategic Systems Programs-a program that keeps our nation safe with a credible sea-based nuclear deterrent. The selected candidate will perform the following functions working closely with interdisciplinary teams comprising management and engineers in support of the:
  • Assisting with/performing risk identification and development of mitigation strategies
  • Creating and statusing risks and risk mitigations in Jira tracking tool
  • Supporting Risk & Opportunity Board (by taking minutes and updating risk tracking tool)
  • Assisting with/performing root cause analyses and/or process analyses
  • Preparing and formatting Excel spreadsheets to clearly display and report information
  • Preparing and formatting PowerPoint presentations
  • Presenting information to select groups of individuals
  • Assisting with the development and maintenance of process documentation and management tools
  • Assisting with action item tracking

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Enrolled student at an accredited 4-year college / university having completed a minimum of two years (Sophomore) towards a Computer Science, Business Administration, Intelligence, Security, or other related degree
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivation and ability to work independently
  • Ability to interact with and effectively present information to peers, management, and customers
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with partners and government officials

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Familiarity/proficiency with:
  • Atlassian's Jira
  • Microsoft Visio
  • Microsoft SharePoint a plus
  • Microsoft Teams
  • Basic Risk & Quality Management concepts

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $48620 - $65670

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20+ hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
