Engineer, Packaging, Productivity & Sustainability

Develop and deploy Packaging Productivity & Sustainability programs.

A Day in the Life:

  • Research and generate ideas for innovative packaging designs that deliver value to the business.
  • Assist in packaging design, testing, and validations to support new product launches, product distribution, and quality resolution.
  • Create packaging design consolidation, transport optimization and supplier consolidation initiatives.
  • Analyze packaging spending data to develop continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Well-versed with packaging suppliers and change management processes.
  • Perform financial validations and justifications for productivity projects.
  • Use Thermo Fisher's internal problem-solving process, Practical Process Improvement (PPI), to identify and implement efficient solutions.
  • Work with sustainability, manufacturing, and distribution teams to implement projects across multiple sites.


Keys to Success:

Education

  • B.S. in a technical field, Packaging, Chemical, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • Lean/Six Sigma or any continuous improvement process certification is preferred.
  • Project management and Finance education or equivalent experience is preferred.


Experience

  • 2+ years of packaging design experience and 1+ years of experience executing projects.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Ability to generate new packaging designs and drive continuous improvement and cost savings projects through packaging.
  • Exposure to Packaging validation protocol and testing standards such as ASTM, ISTA, etc.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to influence change management.
  • Ability to problem solve and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to lead multiple tasks and assess priorities optimally.
  • Strong analytic, written, and oral communication skills with an emphasis on simply communicating complex ideas and influencing senior leaders.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD or SolidWorks

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $72,600.00-$108,900.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
