Job Description

Be a part of the legacy: Postdoctoral Research Fellow Program

Our Research Laboratories' Postdoctoral Research Fellow Program aims to be a best-in-industry program for industrial postdoctoral researchers, designed to provide you with an academic focus in a commercial environment. With the resources, reach, and expertise of a large pharmaceutical company, postdoctoral researchers will be positioned to excel in an institution committed to breakthrough innovation in research and discovery.

The In Vivo Pharmacology - Oncology group within the Department of Quantitative Biosciences (QB) is seeking a Post Doctoral Fellow with expertise in cancer biology to join our Boston-based Exploratory Discovery team. The successful candidate will have a track record of creative and innovative research, demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications. They will be able to work independently but is also expected to proactively collaborate with colleagues across multiple disciplines. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in mechanisms of oncology drug resistance and minimal residual disease. Primary responsibilities will include designing and executing in vivo and ex vivo preclinical studies to characterize tumor microenvironment (TME) interactions pertaining to antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) resistance and tumor relapse. The candidate will present their data at internal and external conferences as well as publish their findings in a peer-reviewed journal . The candidate will be an active participant in the positive and critical scientific dialogue that is necessary to progress our oncology drug discovery programs. An ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with colleagues from multiple different disciplines will be essential for success.

Responsibilities:
  • Assessing the mechanisms of action of antibody drug conjugates using in vivo preclinical mouse models and ex vivo assays, primarily the TME interactions impacting ADC efficacy and resistance.
  • Harvesting and analyzing samples collected in preclinical in vivo studies to identify biomarkers in blood, tumors, and surrogate tissues using molecular methods including but not limited to: multiplexed immunohistochemistry (IHC), imaging mass cytometry, single cell sequencing, flow or mass cytometry and in vitro immunoassays.
  • Independently plan and execute studies with the primary goal of presenting data at external conferences and publishing data, ideally in a high impact journal.

Required experience and skills:
  • Extensive expertise with oncology models is desired (in vitro tissue culture and in vivo models). Experience with in vitro tumoroid/organoid culture would be a plus.
  • Experience with multiplexed IHC, molecular biology techniques and data analyses tools; single cell RNA sequencing and flow cytometry is desired. Experience using spatial transcriptomics is a plus.
  • Some experience designing and executing in vivo animal studies including animal handling and dosing, blood and tissue sampling and data collection analysis and interpretation is desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to function and communicate effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.

Education Requirements:

PhD in the field of cancer biology, molecular biology, or similar discipline.
