Improving Aviation is currently seeking a reliable Aerodynamics Engineer to provide support for several aviation projects. In this position, you will execute a variety of roles to provide research and development of innovative traffic management systems and atmospheric research concepts. This position requires coordination with project managers and a cross-disciplinary team. The ideal candidate will have previous aerodynamics and computational fluid dynamics research experience and is an innovative researcher with a passion for aviation.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical expertise and guidance in the design, development and testing of innovative airspace concepts and research airframes.
- Development of methods to detect and quantify the effects of atmospheric disturbances for manned aircraft and Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS)
- Development and assessment of probabilistic models that predict the frequency, causal factors, and effects of potential disturbances on an airframe;
- Analyze the interaction of atmospheric forces with manned and unmanned aircraft using field data and flight test measurements.
- Perform CFD analysis to retrofit manned and unmanned airframes with atmospheric sensor suites.
- Develop and implement atmospheric sensor suites into manned and unmanned aircraft to measure atmospheric conditions during wildfire operations.
- Present at industry conferences and tradeshows.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- Related aerodynamic research experience
- Familiar with emerging aircraft systems (UAS, AAM)
- Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Experience with MatLab and Python
- Technical experience supporting innovative technology projects.
- Demonstrated knowledge of airspace operations and the aviation system
- U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or non-restrictive work visa.
