Job Title: Sr. Storage/Backup/VMWare Engineer
Location: San Antonio, TX
Qualifications & Required Skills:
10+ years of experience supporting enterprise-level, highly available, fault-tolerant storage infrastructure.
Strong experience in Virtualization and Storage technologies
The ideal candidate would have 3+ years of experience in the at least four of the following technologies - VMware, NetApp, Pure Storage, Brocade, Cohesity, Windows Administration
3+ years of hands-on experience with NetApp Data ONTAP, NetApp NAS, and NetApp Storage Grid, Pure Storage.
3+ years of experience managing VMWare related products like handling vCenter, vSphere and ESXi hosts
3+ years of experience managing Cohesity backup solutions and clusters.
Proficiency in enterprise SAN (Storage Area Network) management, including technologies like Fiber Channel zoning, FCoE (Fiber Channel over Ethernet), and storage controllers through Brocade switches.
Working knowledge of virtualization technologies and disaster recovery strategies.
Ability to identify opportunities for improvement, articulate challenges, and develop and implement solutions.
Strong analytical skills to gather and interpret data for informed decision-making on infrastructure management.
Experience supporting storage infrastructure in both Windows and Linux server environments.
Practical knowledge of SSL certificates and managing licenses.
Knowledge on vRealize suite (vRA and vRO) is a huge plus.
Typical Duties:
Maintain and support the virtualization and storage infrastructure, including vulnerability remediation, configuration management, capacity planning, provisioning, and zoning of new servers.
Configure, administer, tune, and optimize NetApp storage arrays for peak performance.
Supporting and performing ESXi, vCenter and SRM related upgrades
Experience with server build provisioning through vRA
Act as a technical subject matter expert for resolving issues related to storage and VMWare infrastructure.
Establish and maintain metrics and detailed reports on backups, storage, and fabric capacity/utilization.
Conduct capacity planning for storage growth, trend analysis, and forecast future storage requirements for technology refresh.
Contribute to Enterprise Service Management by handling alerts, incidents, service requests, and change management related to storage and backup.
Ensure comprehensive monitoring and maintenance of the environment.
Maintain and update infrastructure documentation for efficient management.
Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours support.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues and deliver integrated solutions.
