Job Description:

The client is seeking a qualified IT Security Engineer to manage security architecture and engineering integration for a Next Generation 911 (NG911) system. The role involves conducting cybersecurity and technical threat analysis, evaluating security protocols, and ensuring compliance with security standards based on the NIST 800-53 framework. The selected engineer will implement and oversee solutions for DNS, email, remote access, and performance monitoring on Next Generation firewall platforms. Additionally, they will configure and integrate security management across NG911 platforms, including host operating systems and applications such as LDAP and SMTP.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform cybersecurity analysis and assess technical threats to the NG911 system.
  • Evaluate and implement security protocols for intrusion prevention and overall system security using NIST 800-53 guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with security regulations and standards across the NG911 network.
  • Implement security solutions and configurations for DNS, email, remote access, and performance monitoring on NG911 platforms.
  • Deploy and manage Next Generation firewall platforms, along with host operating systems and related applications (e.g., LDAP, SMTP).

Mandatory Skills/Experience:

Candidates without the mandatory skills will not be considered.

  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity trends, security methodologies, and the OSI model; familiarity with the TCP/IP stack.
  • Experience designing secure networks, systems, and applications with a focus on security, performance, and reliability.
  • Experience planning, researching, and developing security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Proficiency with Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in a technical and/or business application, product, platform, or methodology.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Cybersecurity experience in a Public Safety Answering Center (PSAC) or Public Safety Access Point (PSAP) environment, working on NG911 systems.
  • One or more relevant information security and/or networking certifications such as CISSP, Security+, Network+, CCNA, or PCNSE.
  • Professional experience in a system administration role supporting multiple platforms and applications.
