Job Summary:
The Director of Litigation & Employment at Fanatics Betting and Gaming will be responsible for overseeing and managing the company’s litigation portfolio, including matters related to the dynamic and highly regulated sports betting and iGaming industries. This role will also collaborate closely with our People team to handle employment law issues, ensuring compliance in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. Reporting to the VP of Legal Affairs, the Director will play a key role in protecting the company’s legal interests while fostering a positive, compliant workplace culture across our gaming and sports betting operations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in litigation, with substantial experience in employment law, particularly within regulated industries such as tech, gaming, or other high-growth sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Litigation Management: 2. Develop and implement litigation strategies in collaboration with external legal counsel and the legal team of our parent company, Fanatics Holdings, Inc.
3. Manage and oversee all aspects of litigation, including pre-litigation disputes, lawsuits, and arbitration.
4. Evaluate and mitigate legal risks associated with current and potential litigation.
5. Prepare and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and settlement agreements.

6. Employment Law Oversight: 7. Advise on and handle employment-related legal matters, including but not limited to employee disputes, terminations, and compliance with labor laws and regulations.
8. Conduct investigations into employee complaints and legal claims, ensuring fair and thorough resolution.
9. Work with the People team to ensure compliance with employment laws, including wage and hour regulations, workplace safety, and anti-discrimination laws.

10. Strategic Counsel: 11. Provide proactive legal advice to senior management on litigation and employment-related issues.
12. Keep abreast of legal developments and industry trends to anticipate potential legal challenges and opportunities.
13. Understand the nuances of the regulated nature of the gaming industry and provide counsel based on that knowledge


Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in litigation with a meaningful focus on employment law.
- Experience in the tech industry highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of both state and federal employment laws and regulations.
- Proven ability to manage complex legal matters and work with external counsel effectively.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities and the ability to work well under pressure.
