Job Title: Application Support Engineer

Position Summary

We are seeking a creative and technically skilled Application Support Engineer to support our business-critical applications and services. This role involves identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving application-related issues for both internal and external stakeholders across various operating environments.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Issue Resolution: Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve application-related issues to their full resolution.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate identified issues and their root causes to internal stakeholders within and outside the IT department.
  • Operational Familiarity: Understand the organization's operational processes and how they interact with and leverage applications.
  • Trend Analysis: Identify issue trends, link them to underlying application bugs or defects, and assist in executing solutions.
  • Monitoring: Monitor application-related jobs, processes, and performance using available tools, application log databases, and feedback from internal stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively within scrum teams, the IT department, and internal operations teams.
  • Knowledge Base Development: Continually develop knowledge base articles for the internal team to address application-related knowledge gaps.

Technical Skills

  1. T-SQL: Proficiency in running T-SQL queries (10-20 times a day) to identify error messages and troubleshoot issues in a live environment.
  2. PowerShell: Experience with PowerShell for automating file processes and reducing manual work, including interpreting existing scripts.
  3. C#: Fundamental knowledge of C# for troubleshooting applications coded in .NET, without the need to write new code.
  4. AWS Cloud: Experience with AWS Cloud, including troubleshooting applications in an AWS environment and understanding data dumps, Redshift, and cloud information.

  • Process Improvement: Constantly seek ways to improve processes and reduce manual operations.
  • Technical Debt: Utilize programming skills to address technical debt items.
  • On-Call Availability: Participate in the team's on-call rotation for production issues after business hours.
