Estimator

My client is a General Construction company in the Western Suburbs. They are looking for a Commercial Construction Estimator.

Candidates for this position must be capable of the following:

• Ability to build a full conceptual cost estimate from architectural sketches.
• (5) to (10) years of commercial construction estimating experience absolutely required. College degree preferred.
• Excellent people and communication skills and the ability to forge and build relationships with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Experience in developing and implementing value engineering solutions to drive down project costs for the Owner while maintaining a high level of construction quality.
• Experience in coordinating with the architect, structural engineer, civil engineer, and MEP engineers to determine cost effective solutions during the design process.
• Experience with pre-bid walk throughs and meetings, including compiling walk-through notes and taking pictures of the project.
• Ability to descope subcontractor proposals and negotiate pricing, buy out projects, and award subcontracts.
• Capable of writing detailed scopes of work for construction contracts to be implemented by the field operations team.
• Experience in creating preliminary construction schedules.
• Ability to coordinate the scopes of work of multiple trades to ensure nothing is missed for the project team.
• Excellent computer skills including proficiency with Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to compose and oversee the distribution of RFPs, RFIs, emails and other correspondence related to project estimates and proposals.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple, concurrent projects and aggressive deadlines.
• Exceptional problem solving, organizational, and time management skills with high level of attention to detail
