The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering invites highly qualified individuals to apply for the position of Director for Outreach and Recruitment in the Office of Academic and Student Affairs (ASA).

Reporting to the Senior Director of Academic and Student Affairs, the Director for Outreach and Recruitment is responsible for the Student Outreach and Recruitment team. Serving as a key member of the ASA leadership team, this position will be responsible for undergraduate recruitment, graduate recruitment, and K-12 outreach. The director provides strategic planning; oversees assessment of programs/activities; organizes and directs unit operations and schools-wide programming related to these areas of responsibility.

Additionally, the director will work with internal and external university partners, colleges, and schools to develop and maintain collaborative relationships that lead to improved Fulton Schools student admissions and enrollment.

Essential Duties

  • Provides leadership for Fulton Schools of Engineering graduate and undergraduate student recruitment and K-12 student outreach.
  • Directs and coordinates daily operations for the development and implementation of a suite of undergraduate and graduate student recruitment and yield programs and activities.
  • Develops strategic plans for graduate and undergraduate student recruitment: Works with the eight Fulton Schools of Engineering to establish and coordinate school-level undergraduate and graduate recruitment strategies, events, and communication flow.
  • Oversees assessment and evaluation in all areas of responsibility: Develops outcomes and goals for recruitment and yield (tied to enrollment goals established by the university and dean) as well as assessment and tracking mechanisms.
  • Identifies market trends and develops strategic recruitment plan and partnerships to address college needs based on enrollment goals. This includes visits to high schools, community colleges, college fairs, etc.
  • Responsible for the reporting of various recruitment and yield issues and initiatives to the Provost’s Office, University Admissions Office, and the Graduate College.
  • Sets goals and priorities and coordinates programming based on unit, school and university strategic initiatives: Works with the Dean’s Office and Fulton Schools’ Directors/Chairs, develops long- and short-range enrollment goals for Fulton Engineering.
  • Supervises and provides leadership for all reporting unit staff directly and through subordinate supervisors; oversees and participates in staff hiring, training and evaluation; promotes the Fulton Values.
  • Interprets and applies pertinent rules, regulations, policies and procedures set forth by the university or other governing agencies.
  • Assists units with problem resolution and customer service issues; responds to escalated inquiries from students, parents, community members, Dean, and President’s office.
  • Confers with University officials, program directors, budget administrators and/or staff to make determinations for budget development, strategic planning, requests, and management analysis and accountability reports.
  • Represents the college/department and serves on various department and university committees.
  • Develops, maintains and implements department policies and procedures; provides advice, information and resolves problems and/or issues affecting the department; initiates measures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of all of the recruitment programs.
  • Manages the design, development, implementation, and coordination of projects.
  • Develops and maintains a communication plan for internal and external engineering recruitment stakeholders.
  • Complete other duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND eight (8) years of related administrative experience, which includes five (5) years of supervisory experience; OR, Twelve (12) years of related administrative experience, which includes five (5) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • May be required to perform tasks in the field within and/or across University campuses.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
