The Center for Hydrologic Innovations and the Global Center of Water Technology are seeking a highly self-motivated and dynamic individual for the position of Business Operations Specialist. Both centers are fast-paced, working on cutting edge research centered around water. The successful candidate will be responsible handling the purchasing, event planning, travel, and administrative functions.

Essential Duties

Administrative/Purchasing

  • Responsible for purchasing supplies, services, and equipment for the centers within ASU policy
  • Initiates and submits journal vouchers, budget amendments, and expense reports
  • Responsible for reconciling pCards for the centers
  • Responsible for reconciliation of accounts
  • Prepares routine and ad hoc financial and administrative reports for decision making and planning

Events and Travel

  • Organize and facilitate events, workshops, meetings and/or conferences
  • Coordinate logistics, scheduling, and participant communications
  • Develops informational materials like brochures, presentations, flyers, etc following ASU guidelines.
  • Schedules appointments for the center and prepares background information for the meetings.
  • Makes necessary travel arrangements for center staff and conference participants including expense reports after travel has been completed.

Payroll

  • Process payroll redistributions
  • Initiates changes to position funding

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business or in a field pertinent to work AND one (1) year of directly related administrative experience; OR, Five years of directly related administrative experience; OR Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education form which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.

  • Experience providing financial and operational support in a higher education environment
  • Experience problem solving and researching errors/issues; delivering recommendations and solutions
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ASU purchasing policies and procedures
  • Working knowledge of Workday and Salesforce
  • Experience using the Microsoft suite of software

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed primarily in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; frequently required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work; bending, stopping, reaching and lifting up to 20 pounds.
  • Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
  • This position receives regular review of objectives.
