Description

We are in search of a Desktop Engineer to be an integral part of our team. The role will be based in Norwich, Connecticut area. The successful candidate will be tasked with managing and maintaining our virtual servers and networks, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of our systems and data, and providing technical support to our team.

Responsibilities:

Oversee the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of VMware 8, Horizon 8, Veeam, including the management of virtual servers, golden images, pools, and security practices.

Manage multiple vSphere platforms across various locations.

Install, upgrade, troubleshoot, and repair hardware and software related to virtual desktop PCs, Windows Server, LaserJet and Barcode printers, hardware systems, and Cisco networks.

Develop, implement, and maintain programs and policies that ensure the protection of system integrity, networks, and data.

Install, configure, and maintain the operating systems environment, including systems servers, operating systems, and patch the various software and hardware used within the company.

Test, install, configure, and maintain networks, including hardware such as servers, hubs, bridges, switches, and routers, and software that allows the sharing and transmission of information.

Manage databases used to store and retrieve data and develop standards for data handling.

Troubleshoot any problems experienced by production equipment and staff at all levels of support.

Serve as Help Desk Level 2 support for complex issues requiring in-depth troubleshooting skills.

Provide technical support for standard and proprietary desktop software, relating to a diverse group of people, including team members, senior management, business customers, and vendors in a constructive, professional manner.

Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Desktop Engineer or in a similar role
Proficiency in Computer Hardware
Familiarity with Active Directory
Experience with VMware
Knowledge of Basic Network Troubleshooting
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Willingness to keep up with advancements in the field
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
