The Director of the Information Technology (IT)/Digital Technology Services (DTS) Project Management Office oversees the throughput of DTS projects using portfolio management, project management, and organizational change management disciplines within the Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) network. Oversees a team which may include team members who support project intake, project management, portfolio management, and IT solution analysis. The team is responsible for project management standard operating procedures within DTS which is inclusive of templates and other documentation standards. Responsibilities will include the creation and tracking of project performance metrics as well as forecasting, tracking, and reporting project performance against financial, resource, and timing goals. Ensures thorough communication with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. Also oversees the closure of projects with follow-up reporting to sponsors and other stakeholders and is an escalation point for any risks and barriers to projects.

This is a Hybrid position-25% onsite in the Edison, NJ office.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Director of the Information Technology (IT)/Digital Technology Services (DTS) Project Management Office at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Working closely with HMH governance processes, prioritize DTS projects with HMH's short-term and long-term strategic objectives. Identify, review, and quantify variances and risks, complete any required corrective actions, and ensure communication to all stakeholders regarding such variances and risks.
  • Establish and maintain project governance standards, methodologies, and processes to ensure effective project delivery.
  • Manage DTS project resources, including staffing, and budgets, to ensure optimal utilization and alignment with project goals with HMH strategy.
  • Direct project managers in areas of scope, schedule, cost, risk, resources, quality, etc.
  • Develop and implement best practices to improve efficiency in demand management, project execution, and portfolio reporting within all programs.
  • Standardize program communications and deliverables such as program and project charters, issue logs, risk management, and implementation plans.
  • Develop portfolio and program plans, enabling the planning and tracking of project milestones and deliverables. 8. Develop and report on metrics designed to ensure projects are aligned with project financials, estimates, and resource needs and portfolio is aligned with strategy objectives.
  • Create a collaborative partnership among executive leaders and portfolio stakeholders that enables resource demand planning, change management, and project pipeline planning decisions.
  • In collaboration with the DTS Vendor Management Office (VMO), lead the development of and adherence to IT procurement workflows, validating that IT investment is warranted based on the projected value of a given initiative
  • In collaboration with the DTS Financial Operations team, develop and maintain project costing capabilities including development and reporting on project-level budgets and forecasts.
  • Work alongside the HMH Integration Management Office (IMO) to manage HMH Network strategic projects
  • Responsible for the training, scheduling, performance, and overall results of the team.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, management information systems, or other related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of proven experience in portfolio management and information technology (IT) project management (project intake, resource demand planning, budget management).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in relevant IT project and portfolio management leadership role(s).
  • Experience in facilitating meetings related to portfolio governance, project reviews, decision-making, and other project-related topics.
  • Subject Matter Expertise in Project Management Office (PMO), software development lifecycle (SDLC), and governance best practices.
  • Working experience with roadmaps and deployments of production applications, including in-house applications and third-party SaaS applications.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (oral and written) to shape messages to the appropriate level of audience.
  • Advanced skills in preparing and presenting digital presentations.
  • Ability to understand complex business flows.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Team-oriented and skilled in working within a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Master's degree in computer science, business, management information systems, or other related field.
  • Knowledge of and experience working within the Healthcare industry.
  • Experience with Scrum and/or Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with PPM tools (i.e. Asana, ServiceNow, or other tools).
  • Experience in Change Management.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation Certification at hire or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

  • Certified ScrumMaster.
